Kid Scoop News A monthly newspaper for and by kids! Sometimes it’s the only reading material they have.

With Kid Scoop News, students get their own personal copy delivered right to their classroom to hold and read, write in, color, cut up and take home to share with family members each month. Studies show when children spend more time reading their test scores improve. Kid Scoop News awakens the magic of reading thanks to sponsors and individuals like you!

📣 Attention Sonoma Valley Unified School District Families!

Next week is the Kid Scoop News Summer Camp — a fun and engaging program where students explore the joy of reading through hands-on activities in art, science, creativity, and play!

📍 Location: El Verano School
🕘 Time: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
🎓 Grades: TK – 5th grade
Free for all students enrolled in Sonoma Valley Unified School District

To register, simply use the link the district shared with you through the parent portal.

We look forward to seeing your children for a week full of imagination, learning, and fun!

¡La próxima semana es el Campamento de Verano de Kid Scoop News! Un programa divertido y dinámico donde los estudiantes explorarán la magia de la lectura a través de actividades prácticas de arte, ciencia, creatividad y juego.

📍 Lugar: Escuela El Verano
🕘 Horario: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
🎓 Grados: De TK a 5.º grado
Gratuito para todos los estudiantes inscritos en el Distrito Escolar Unificado de Sonoma

We want to hear from you:
What are your thoughts on reading at home and in the community?
Do you know of accessible reading spaces?
Have you used the local children's newspaper, Kid Scoop News, with your kids?

🗣️ Join us for a focus group where we’ll talk about reading, community resources, and how to make the most of Kid Scoop News to inspire children.

📅 We have two available dates:
🔹 Tuesday, July 16 at 9:00 a.m.
🔹 Tuesday, July 30 at 12:00 p.m.
📍 At the La Luz Center Family Resource Center (located at El Verano School)

📣 We’re Looking for Kid Scoop News Ambassadors!
Do you love reading, art, and creating fun spaces for kids and families?
Join us as a volunteer ambassador and be part of a movement to transform education through community engagement.
🟢 What will you do as an ambassador?
📍 Participate in community events
🤝 Conduct outreach throughout the Valley and County
🎉 Organize activities, games, workshops, and focus groups
🟢 Requirements:
✅ Be bilingual (English/Spanish Preferred, but not required)
✅ Have or have had children in the local school district
✅ Be committed and enthusiastic about serving the community
💵 We offer a $20/hour stipend as recognition for your time and dedication.
