Eminem has defeated Tyler the Creator in UK sales. I need to re-listen to Chromokopia but there was decent introspection and production here. The DOSL was an instant classic, the use of AI for storytelling in combination with the social and political commentary based on doppelgänger Eminem fighting against his older self pushed the genre as much as it challenged listeners to leave behind rap music cliches like overproduction using ad libs or repetitive content. Eminem embraced the challenge instead of giving us more of the same, and somehow he maintains his authentic self even when adapting to commercial trends within the genre.
