Several victims' family members attended May Day in Las Vegas this year and spoke of how police violence has affected them and others connected to the people police murder.
Several family members of victims of police violence were present during the 12th Annual Las Vegas May Day / Primero de Mayo Marcha on Tuesday.
One of those who attended May Day in Las Vegas was Jorge Luis Martinez, the step-father of Junior Lopez, the latest victim of the LVMPD. In addition Dominic Archibald spoke about her son Nathanial Pickett, who was shot by San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Deputy Kyle Woods in spite of being unarmed and not having committed or even being suspected of any crime in 2015.
Nissa Tzun, of the Forced Trajectory Project and Families United 4 Justice, spoke also, addressing the impact that police violence has on the families of those murdered by the police. She also formally announced the Justice for Tashii Brown / 1st Year Mother's Day Vigil, which will take place on the Las Vegas Strip. Trinita Farmer, the mother of Tashii Farmer-Brown, has called for this vigil to commemorate the one year observance of his murder by Officer Kenneth Lopera of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department .
