Tommy was the first friend I made when I moved to Charleston. I met him in the winter 5 months before I moved here, exploring and house hunting the area. A bartender recommended checking out the washout, where the surfers go, so after lunch there we went. I saw a guy in a wetsuit, no surfboard in hand, about to cross the street from the beach and eager to get more info I yelled out to him “Hey! Are you a surfer?” Would be my first encounter with a surfer here. He came over to our car and friendly as can be we hit it of with convo and he also recommended we go explore the trail/path covered with graffiti art towards the lighthouse. He gave me his number, but when I texted it he noticed it didn’t turn blue. “Shoot I gave you the wrong number, this is the one!” I drove off after texting that number, and proceeded to go check out the end of E Ashley. We came back from walking almost all the way down that path and waiting for me was a paper note under my wiper blade, I thought I had gotten a ticket. Nope it was Tommy, who drove blocks down the street to hunt down my rental car to write “Sorry man I gave you the wrong number again! This is the one!” Third times the charm! It was his real number that time. I love to tell that story, because it just shows the beginning of a great friendship with this stand up guy. I met Sarah after moving down here and she is just as amazing, the two of them are going to go far with each other. I’m honored to be shooting their wedding next year and if you’re lucky enough to have met either of them I doubt you’ll ever forget who they are. ❤️
