American Recording Productions (World Music) Producers of traditional Armenian and Middle Eastern music since 1991. Bringing world music to a higher level for the masses.

Based in Michigan (USA), we are producers/distributors of traditional Armenian and Middle Eastern music. Traditional and cultural elements include the use of instruments indigenous to the countries of Armenia, Greece, Bulgaria, the Middle East and the Near East. Instruments such as kanun (laptop harp), oud (pear shape lute), duduk (flute) cumbus (banjo), dumbeg (hand drum) to name a few. Many arti

sts represented on the American Recording Productions label range from Armenian virtuoso's Mal Barsamian and oudist George Mgrdichian to Greek clarinetists Vasilios Saleas and Jim Dimitri Stoynoff. The record label is lead by an Armenian musician, Ara Topouzian, a kanun player, with award winning releases which have been featured in motion pictures, stage performances, and commercials.

Doug Shimmin has been performing world music in Detroit, Michigan USA for several years. After years of traditional ethnic music, Shimmin entered into another world of music involving electronic forms of digital music.
