The PZX Invasion was something that should never have happened. PZX was the first AI created by the Pumbans. They fed it all the data they could find, held a wonderful ceremony, and turned it on. They asked it the one question that was on everyone's mind, "What can be done to make Prumban life better?"

It answered, "This is easy. I must kill half the current population. Then I will put the remainder in stasis until I can modify the weak DNA that limits you."

The Prumbans were appalled. As a pacifist race, they did what they could. They turned it off and fired it into space, where it would never be heard from again.

But, years later, it woke up. Using the native religions of the first world it discovered, it declared itself a god and began its quest to alter the universe's DNA. Its plan required a diverse palette to work from and, when it discovered the home of the Cyners Main, it hit the jackpot.

The Uraznans were tough to write. They were developing into a space-faring race, so the Cybers Main followed their transmissions. However, by the time they got there Civil War had ravaged the world, and only about 15% of the population still lived. An even smaller number were being sheltered by a supercomputer that had taken to designing itself.

So, what story was there to tell?

I decided to tell two parallel stories. The first followed the voyage of the evolving computer after it joined the Cybers Main, and the second followed the journey of one amazing female and her two husbands as they joined an iteration of the supercomputer and helped begin a new world. In her free time, she wrote pop music and poetry. Her eventual death scene has made angry bikers cry. I really nailed that one.

The Prumbans are what happens when evolution goes on a three-thousand-year bender and tries to level out with coke. They were the first interstellar faring race the Cybers Main met after leaving Arreti.

They are a matriarchal society whose military is primarily ceremonial. They love their xhub-xhub berries, fermented libations, and science. They're also a pleasant and inquisitive people who respect boundaries and enjoy a good funeral.

The Cybers Main, front row, were the last AI left on Arreti after Manish destroyed the Technarcy and began the reign of the Goptris. Natasha and Boris, l/r back row, were Soviet experiments that were shut down during the gen-O-pod (TM) wars and reactivated centuries later by the Cybers Main.

Together, they found an abandoned Soviet warship in orbit, called The Pravda, and used it to escape into the galaxy.

Yes, one of the Cybers is a transgender robot, just think of it as a bonus while you're contemplating uploading your mind into the cyberverse.
