: The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday rejected a bid by Kim Davis, the former Kentucky court clerk who refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples after the high court’s 2015 ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges. The Justices on Monday turned away her appeal.

Though Davis’ lawyers repeatedly invoked words of Justice Clarence Thomas, who is alone among the nine justices calls for erasing the same-sex marriage ruling, he is only one among four dissenting justices in 2015. Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito are the other dissenters who are on the court today.

Roberts has been silent on the subject since he wrote a dissenting opinion in the case. Alito has continued to criticize the decision, but he said recently he was not advocating that it be overturned.

Trump appointed, Justice Amy Coney Barrett, who was not on the court in 2015, has said that there are times when the court should correct mistakes and overturn decisions, as it did in the 2022 case that ended a constitutional right to abortion. But Barrett has suggested recently that same-sex marriage might be in a different category than abortion because people have relied on the decision when they married and had children.

: A Honolulu bound UPS flight has crashed in Louisville, KY. Flight 2976 departed at 5:02pm EST and reportedly crashed soon after at around 5:15pm as it was taking off. A large plume and fire is reported along with injuries.

: Velvet Hawaii, which opened just over eight months ago on October 12th promotes itself as “Hawaii’s newest LGBTQIA+ Bar” and is now a straight or hetero owned nightclub, lashed out at community members recently during World Pride Month on social media while referring to the LGBTQ+ community as a cult and comparing the community to MAGA (Make America Great Again), a political movement.

On Tuesday, June 9 the club posted on their Instagram a reel of a shirtless guy doing curls of Hayden Brooks, an apparent OnlyFans creator who was in Honolulu to do collaborations.

Another user then identified Brooks via a comment as a Trump supporter and rather than leaving the comment alone, Velvet Nightclub decided to respond saying “we can respect the ideals and stances of all people as long as they enter our spaces with kindness. That’s the “all inclusive” part of all inclusive”, to which the original commenter said the club was complicit and lacked backbone.

Another person comments, “ eh, nothing to respect about what that cult stands for” (referring to MAGA) and in response Velvet responds in part, “the same is said about the LGBTQIA community”.

Power Hungry and GOP Trump Supporter Council Member Andria Tupola is joining Chair Tommy Waters to take control of the Honolulu City Council and BOOT out LGBTQ Vice Chair Using her OFFICIAL government email to CAMPAIGN and ask people to submit testimony. (Isn’t this against ethics rules ?). Your Testimony is NEEDED URGENTLY by 2pm to OPPOSE the council passing Resolution 25-170 tomorrow! Is Waters in cahoots with GOP? Is he another Tulsi Gabbard saying he’s a Democrat but will eventually reveal he’s Republican? The LGBTQ community isn’t the only ones questioning Honolulu City Council Chair Tommy Waters move to change council leadership, including LGBTQ Vice Chair Matt Weyer, one of two openly gay Council Members.

In a article posted June 8th, trusted local media company Civil Beat asked the question said, “Power struggle: The Sunshine Blog is probably not the only one wondering what the heck is up with Tommy Waters and his political cabal at the Honolulu City Council. A very interesting resolution dropped Friday that would shake up long-standing Democratic alliances (yes, The Blog knows these council folks are nonpartisan, cough-cough) and have the council chair in cahoots with known Republicans”.

The article also said, “Weyer and Cordero were both backed in their elections to the council by Democratic powers that be. And of course Waters, Kiaʻāina and Nishimoto are well-known Democrats.
Tupola and Okimoto are from across the aisle — strong Republicans.

So why is Waters suddenly making a play to dump his leadership team with the help of political rivals?

Inquiring minds want to know”.

Civil Beat also pointed out, “Tupola, who ran for governor on the Republican ticket in 2018, has made no secret of her ambition to be council chair”.

So, the question remains what is Chair Waters doing in Pride Month removing the LGBTQ Vice Chair? Why is he in cahoots with the GOP?

Trump and his MAGA supporters like to say that they support the military and want to cut the deficit. However, since March they want to cut 80,000 jobs from the VA, many of which are filled by veterans. Those cuts would affect services to veterans needing care. Meanwhile, the GOP supports Trump wasting $45million tax dollars to feed Trumps ego for his birthday parade. That $45million could’ve gone to giving Veterans what they need!

: It appears that Honolulu City Council Chair Tommy Waters is seeking retribution against the Council’s only two LGBTQ+ Council Members during World Pride Month for not falling in line and voting with him with regards to the controversial sewer bill.

Now, Waters has introduced Resolution 25-170 to replace current Vice-Chair Matt Weyer, who represents District II. Weyer is also one of the two LGBTQ+ members.

Through this resolution, the Chair wants to replace Weyer with known GOP member and staunch Trump supporter, Andria Tupola. He also wants to replace current Floor Leader Radiant Cordero with longtime Council Member Esther Kiaʻāina. Cordero also voted against the Chair during the controversial sewer bill.

Sources are also reporting that the Chair plans to remove LGBTQ+ member Tyler Dos Santos-Tam as Chair of the powerful Honolulu City Council Budget Committee, however, it is unknown who he plans to put in place.

We stand with our friends & family who serve and are being used as political pawns! This is against the law and remember the oath you swore is to the constitution NOT to a draft avoider or his administration. Our troops and service members should not be treated this way! Additionally, if GOP wants to use crime as the excuse, they should deploy guard and marines to GOP states where crime rates are in some cases substantially higher than California!
