I grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota. It was not an idyllic childhood, but it was OK; my five brothers and three sisters had enough to eat and were warm in the brutal Minnesota winters (we even had a skating rink in our side yard every year - I distinctly remember flooding the rink in my choppers and zip-up overshoes (we just called 'em boots) when it was five below zero.

What's going on in the Twin Cities right now is WAY beyond disturbing. It is also heartbreaking. I mean, really ... People are being murdered with impunity by federal troops, and no one is being held to account for it. Not that a desire for revenge is an acceptable reaction, but it is a natural one. The real solution is for all the federal troops -- ICE, CBP, FBI, etc., to get the hell out of the Twin Cities!

I'm working on a terrific new film project called Delfino's Journey, about two cousins who attempt to leave the chaos of their drug cartel-controlled hometown in southwest Mexico, and escape to America. Based on the award-winning book by Jo Harper, who also wrote the screenplay, with Simon Miller, the story follows the teenagers as they navigate the harsh realities of US immigration - the fears, small triumphs, and extreme dangers they encounter. This is part road trip, part quest - an emotional real-world struggle, and a tale of hope - with Aztec magic!

I'm working with Executive Producer Hamish Gibson of Optik Film, London UK, Producer Scott Robinson of Drama Free Zone, LA/New Orleans, independent Producer Robert Katz of LA, and acclaimed Director Arthur Allan Seidelman of EntPro LA. Helen Hunt is attached to the project, as is Danny Trejo; Dermot Mulroney, among others, has expressed interest. And after more than 400 auditions in Mexico and the US, Mr Seidelman has discovered a fresh face - Fernando Paez, the exciting young Mexican actor who will play Delfino.
