In all honesty closing out doors in 2024 was a painful thing for me. Seeing the majority of my gear sold was even worse. This page remained out of hope and memory.

2025 will bring Blu Rhino back. Our studio facilities will not be the same as I will be outsourcing studio space elsewhere rather than owning the space myself, but we are coming back as an indie label and production company. Instead of focusing on the studio we will focus on our talent with the goal of promoting thei r creative works through online streaming and live appearances.

Well after much resistance and the promise of a space that was not available in reality, Blu was left hanging on a cold morning as a filled U-Haul truck with no place to go. Even though we were led to believe we would find a new home…this was back at the start of November. Not only did that person not cone through as he promised but also kept items that belonged to us.

Through the darkest of moments true light does shine through. We are now starting to apply acoustic treatment to our new home located at the west end of Omaha. Please mark your calendars for a March 16th grand opening. More details to follow. Also we aquired a fully functional SSL 4056E/G 56 channel beauty thst will now be be busy for tracking duties. Our Midas board will remain on our facilities until we fogure out if we have a use for it.

Those that took pleasure in our little bump, and had dismissed us with joy, newsflash we are coming back with an attitude now!

It was about this time last year the we started talking about the studio I wanted to setup. Through your sadistic Tattoo appointments we started giving it shape. I can not believe still that just two months later i would loose the friend you had becone, my brother of bass.

I thank God for the December Tattoo subscription because although unknowest to me at the time those were going to be the last real moments we shared laughing, and planning music related stuuf. To learn later I was your only client throughout the whole month of December made me even more appreciative of the opportunity that was.

I am sure I am not the only person to miss your jokes and stories….you left us, especially your family way too soon, Randy.

Mixing is about clarity - anything in life is executed at its best if you took enough time for preparation and planning. So prepare your tracks.

1. Clean your tracks - mixing a bad sounding track will only create dissonance in your mix.

2. If the most important frequencies of some or all parts are masked by the less importanr frequencies, then your mix will sound dull and cluttered. Your listener will strain to seperate the parts.

3. if the most important frequencies are towards the front and the less important masked behind the mix will have clarity and seperation.

The mix is just a stereo sound wave all the true separation is really an illusion inside the listeners head, achieved by frequency masking. If say the bass and kick fight at the low end for the same spot - give the kick clarity at 50-60 mhz and push the bass to the back but then bring it to the front at 100 mhz while pushing the kick back.

- key rule on compression.

Comoression is just an automatic volume fader, this is what a compressor should mean to an engineer. Anything compression can do, automation can do.

Some of the newer things we will have at our new location will include a bigger selection of drums as our house kit will now increase to 3 kits and one electronic set. We will have more cymbals to offer as we add Paiste AAX to our fold.

We also will have now Marshall, Mesa Boogie, and Fender ampliification heads and cabinets.

It is with great enthusiasm that we write a new chapter in Blu. We are moving from Crete, NE to Eagle, NE. Besides placing us in a more advantageous geographical area, the new location will provide a better acoustics. With ceilings over 14’ and about 3x it is already studio ready!

Meeting young musicians that are talented and sacrifice time and money to promote their artistic work is an encouragement. These guys are not even out of high school and are a well rehearsed and very professional in their demeanor. All songs were one takers, with an added “punch in”session of about an hour to add solos and riffs.
