This morning on my radio show, I played comedian Rocky LaPorte’s radio liners and some of his bits. I forgot the one bit I played where Rocky talks about taking an exam filling out the forms and where it says, ‘Who should we contact in case of an emergency?’ and Rock says, “How ‘bout a doctor?” ‘No, someone like your parents.’ And then Rock says, “What the hell are my parents gonna do?” The examiner calling his mom, “Mrs. Laporte your son’s been in a terrible accident.” And his mom says, “ Give him ice cream. He likes ice cream.” lol 😹 When I mentioned to Rock that I played it thinking, oops he replied:

It’s another long running Tahoe tradition happening today at the Beach Retreat here on the shores of South Lake Tahoe: the 13th annual Cutwater Bloody Mary Festival! I remember when it was a competition, but it has since turned into a festival! And who doesn’t like Bloody Mary’s?! Organizer Mike Peron was on my show this past Monday talking about the event (which i bekiececsold out). Once again I’ll be judging on a variety of factors, including taste, presentation and just hope I can make it through the rest of the day. I’ve known Rocky LaPorte longer than most comedians and he truly is one of the few best buds I’ve ever had. He was best man at my wedding and was shattered when I found out this happened. If you can help out in any way please do. He truly is one of the best souls around. ❤️ Thanks in advance.

UPDATE & GoFundMe: On 8/3, Rocky was in a serious car accident and airlifted to a trauma hospital with multiple injuries. He’s already undergone 3 surgeries and faces months of rehab to walk again. Rocky has spent 30+ years making people laugh, donating his time to countless charities and caring for his daughter Toni as she battles cancer. Now, he needs our help. While he recovers, Rocky will be unable to work for at least 6 months and still needs to cover personal and medical expenses. The average price of regular gas in South Lake Tahoe is $5.20 which is higher than the national average. Just down the mountain Carson City it’s $3.25 at Costco. I took this pic yesterday down there. Most locals buy their gas in Nevada. I’ll fill up if I’m down there but won’t specifically just to get gas. It’s usually when getting other goods. I’m sure there are places cheaper than Costco in other states and curious who has the cheapest gas. ⛽️⛽️

DATELINE WASHINGTON, D.C. — People hoping to learn any potentially new details from Jeffrey Epstein's closest associate were disappointed, as news broke this past Friday that Congress had postponed Ghislaine Maxwell's testimony until after her death. Following the postponement, Maxwell was reportedly relocated to a different detention facility and provided with an unusual number of bedsheets. "This is in no way a suggestion that she use the sheets to hang herself. We just want her to be comfortable. Even after she's dead."

At publishing time, Congress had also requested that the security cameras outside Maxwell's cell be spontaneously deactivated at a certain time in the coming weeks.

Now that I'm back on the air doing my morning show up here in Tahoe I'm reminded that it wasn't that long ago I almost moved to take a permanent gig at a radio station in Ketchikan, Alaska. It was a small station with a huge radio antenna! I was up visiting via cruise ship and wandered into the radio station at 526 Stedman, the main drag in Ketchikan. I just opened the door and walked in and saw a guy doing his radio show. He waved me over during a commercial break and told him I had my own radio show back in South Lake Tahoe. You know you're in a small radio station when the guy on the air is also the manager and co-owner of the station. By a weird coincidence he was looking to move down to the lower 48 and was going to start looking for someone to replace him. I told him in addition to having my own show I was also a comedian so he asked if I wanted to read the Salmon Report after the next series of commercials and songs played. I asked if I could take some liberty reading it and he said to just have fun with it so I did. I started reporting that the salmon had unionized and were going to go on strike until better bait was provided and where single salmon could hook up with others and just made up some dating sites to hook up with Chinook (King), Coho, Sockeye, Chum and Pink salmon. Yeah, it was silly but I was surprised how many fisherman called in laughing their ass off. I thought they'd be pi**ed because I was going off script but I guess they'd never heard someone with squeaky high voice before and were caught off guard. The radio guy and I stayed in touch and would tune in to my show online from time to time and called offering me not just my own shift (including doing the salmon report lol) but also be a manager and would set me up in a place to live walking distance from the station! I'm assuming I'd be walking in snowshoes and would be spending winters pretty much stuck in town. But, with winter still being my favorite season I'd have to leave Tahoe and that was pretty much the deal breaker. It's beautiful country up there and seeing the aurora borealis would have been a bonus but Tahoe is home and will remain here. As Charles Osgood would say, I'll see you on the radio tomorrow. ❤
