The subject manner is timely, yet highly disturbing. The book is filled with many characters who have some highly scary attitudes, and some very dangerous views of life in the US. I found myself cheering on the heroes, and recoiling from many of the characters who seemed on the surface to be normal, everyday nice people, but you didn't have to scratch very deep to find an enormous amount of hatred. I wish I could say that Hank Bruce just made up some characters that were unbelievable, but I know that people very much like the folks in this town exist throughout the country. I salute his bravery in telling a tale of people standing up to white supremacist groups. We could use more stories that shine the light on these dangerous trends of hatred. As one more note: if you understand chess, the climactic duel between two leaders on opposite sides will really sizzle for you
