MELENDY FINISHES 2ND AT SNC

Fallon’s Carson Melendy continued his strong senior season with a second‑place finish at 165 pounds at the Sierra Nevada Classic at the Reno Events Center.
Melendy, who placed third at last year’s SNC, went 5–1 and helped the Greenwave finish 19th out of 92 teams. The finals loss was his first defeat of the season after missing two tournaments due to illness.
Several Greenwave wrestlers posted winning records, including Wyatt Lambert (3–2), Manuel Barros (3–2), Braylon Byrd (3–2), Andre Green (3–2) and Joseph Romero (3–2, pictured).
On the girls side, Tommie Fitzer (4–2) and Bailey Prinz (3–2, pictured) led Fallon.
The varsity squad heads to Idaho this weekend, while the JV and girls teams compete in Sparks. Fallon hosts Fernley next Wednesday for its only home dual of the season.
Weekly awards: Evan Garcia (Earl Wilkins), Tommie Fitzer (Lovelock) and Nathan Anderson (McQueen). The Gubler family donated T‑shirts for the honors.

Cold weather can be just as dangerous for pets as it is for people. When temperatures drop, the safest place for most pets is indoors where they can stay warm, dry, and protected from the elements.

If your pet spends time outside, take extra precautions:
• Bring pets indoors whenever temperatures drop below comfortable levels
• Provide warm, dry shelter that is insulated and out of the wind
• Check water bowls often to make sure they are not frozen
• Increase food portions slightly since pets burn more energy staying warm
• Watch for signs of hypothermia such as shivering, lethargy, or whining

Cold weather safety includes every member of your household, including pets. Planning ahead helps keep them safe all winter long.
