MCSO looking for illegal fireworks

At Monday’s Cave Creek Town Council meeting, it was announced that extra deputies and posse members will be patrolling the area the evenings of July 3 and 4. One of their priorities will be to watch for illegal fireworks. With the extreme fire danger there is great concern about a wildfire starting from a stray spark or ember. Of course the deputies will also be keeping an eye out for impaired motorists who have celebrated a little too much.

In the June 20 issue of Sonoran News, the article titled “ACCUSATIONS BRING MORE HEAT” incorrectly identified the subject of a comment by Glenn Miller. We originally quoted “Adding he was ashamed of them and also a little ashamed of Councilman Mike Farrar.” Miller actually said, “a little ashamed of you too Mike.” Miller was addressing those comments to Town Attorney Michael Wright.. The Town of Cave Creek has denied a permit for Harold’s to have a fireworks display the evening of July 3rd in honor of Independence Day. After discussing the situation with Rural Metro Fire Department, the Town decided to not to allow the event. Drought has made extremely dry conditions which have raised wildfire concerns to their highest level.
