This week, flash floods once again transformed the canyon in a matter of minutes: water rising, roads closing, mud and debris ripping formations from their millennia-long existence.
For most of us, a flash flood is merely a moment. For Ty, it’s his meaning for being.
For years he has dedicated himself to understanding the how and why and the when and where, purposefully placing himself in position to witness the extraordinary beauty, chaos and destruction these storms unleash.
We’ve been following Ty for years, documenting what can happen when someone spends a lifetime paying attention to something the rest of us may only notice when it dominates the headlines. This is a story that is forever in the making. An ongoing saga of that thing burning inside anyone who has ever felt the pull toward something so strongly, they simply can’t let it go.
