Tommy Schaeffer, founder and owner of Polymathus, LLC., has been an artist since high school and an engineer since, well, graduating from Lehigh University in 1995 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He coupled this degree with a second in the arts for Theatrical Production and Design and has ever since been exercising both his left & right brain hemispheres equally. "People have often advised me
to 'focus more' or 'be careful about spreading yourself too thin,' but I disagree with this advice. We have a finite time on this planet and nothing inspires me more than to explore every aspect of it! I founded Polymathus as a place to harbor all of these interests not as mere hobbies, but as professions that I can pursue passionately and help others gain something for themselves or their businesses in the meantime. Not to mention, doing the things you love and paying the bills while doing so is certainly a delightful way to live. I am a firm believer in the idea of the polymath--and the principle of polymathism. Sure, learning something completely new or foreign inevitably puts us in an uncomfortable and often scary position. But this position, something I learned from my acting coaches long ago, is truly where the best and most inspired performance comes from. That certainly applies to acting for stage or film, but also directly maps to the way you command your own life. I have never made a breakthrough in anything by doing the same thing I had done in the past and resting in something comfortable. A deep and widespread knowledge of the world around you is not only inspiring to the people who surround you, but also the best and strongest step one could take towards discovering truthful innovations and unique solutions to even the most complicated challenges." -- Tommy Schaeffer
