Tomorrow (Wednesday) marks exactly ten years since a life-changing moment for a high school classmate of mine, Gerry Kinney. On July 16, 2015, Gerry—then a lineman for Wayne-White Electric Cooperative—was working in northwest Wayne County when his hand accidentally touched a 7,200-volt power line while in a bucket truck.

Thanks to the quick action of his coworkers, an Air Evac helicopter rushed him to the burn unit at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, where he spent five weeks and endured eight surgeries. By January 2016, Gerry began reclaiming his independence with the help of prosthetic arms.

Today, Gerry can do almost anything with his prosthetics that he once did before. So, join me, Mark Thursday to hear his inspiring journey of strength, recovery, and determination.

An unsettled weather pattern will continue this week with daily shower and storm chances peaking during the afternoon and evening hours. Hot and humid conditions through the middle of the week will be followed by limited relief on Friday as a weak cold front approaches.

He knows how to win!! He brings extensive experience and knowledge! We hope to see everyone for our FIRST High School open gym for 15s thru 18s this Thursday from 6-8pm at New Hope School!
