Zion Williamson is starting to look like himself again, and it’s been a breath of fresh air in New Orleans.
Over his last 8 games, Zion is averaging 27.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists, playing downhill, finishing through contact, and putting steady pressure on defenses every night.
Even during a tough stretch for the Pelicans, his recent run has been a real bright spot and a reminder of just how special he can be when he’s rolling.
James Borrego couldn’t hide his excitement watching it unfold. “It’s been great. Zion looks great,” Borrego said. “His spirit is right, mind is right. He looks fresh, aggressive, and really confident right now.
So that's a bright spot. We've got to just lean into that. It's a positive. We're going to get reinforcements back here soon. We just need Zion to keep playing at that level.”
With Dejounte Murray and Herb Jones getting closer to returning, the vibe around the team is starting to shift.
Borrego also made it clear this isn’t just a hot week. “It’s as well as I think he’s played in a while,” he added. “I’ve seen this before, but in recent history, this is probably the best. Mentally and physically, he looks really strong right now.”
If this version of Zion sticks around when the reinforcements arrive, the Pelicans might finally be ready to build some real momentum.
