On this day in 2005, Turner Classic Movies premiered 14 Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle comedies (courtesy of Laughsmith Entertainment) as part of their April Fools marathon. This was the very first time in history that one of Arbuckle's feature films (LEAP YEAR - 1921) aired on television! Ten years later, we again collaborated with our friends at TCM to premiere two additional Arbuckle features (the master materials generously provided by Paramount and the Library of Congress, restored by CineMuseum) including THE ROUND UP and THE LIFE OF THE PARTY. It was a genuine thrill to see these rare wonderful films finally reach a national audience. Today, twenty years after our initial efforts, work continues on the ARBUCKLE ANTHOLOGY (a new collection featuring over 50 of Arbuckle's best works in front of and behind the camera) which is due later this year.
