Grass Fire near I-5 just outside Gold Hill.

𝙐𝙋𝘿𝘼𝙏𝙀, 7:40 p.m.: The is now estimated to be 40 acres, and crews are holding it despite the wind. The perimeter is 20% lined at this time. Spot fires driven by wind are adding an additional challenge for crews, along with steep terrain, dense brush and limited access.
Additional resources have been ordered for the evening. Medford Fire Department, BLM Oregon & Washington and U.S. Forest Service- Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest are on scene as well.

𝙐𝙋𝘿𝘼𝙏𝙀, 5:34 p.m.: The fire has spotted and is now two separate fires. Together, they’re estimated to be five acres and growing up the slope in the wind.
Multiple type 2 helicopters, a type 1 and an air attack platform have been ordered, along with crews.
No evacuations are in place, however North River Road is closed to regular traffic near the 4300-block.
Rogue River Fire District, Fire District 3, Evans Valley Fire District #6, Rural Metro Fire - Josephine County, Grants Pass Fire Rescue, and ROGUE RIVER PD are on scene.

𝙃𝘼𝙋𝙋𝙀𝙉𝙄𝙉𝙂 𝙉𝙊𝙒: Multiple ODF engines and a type 2 helicopter are en route to assist Rogue River Fire District and Fire District 3 on a grass fire near I5 along North River Road outside of Gold Hill. It’s currently estimated to be one acre.
The smoke column, seen here from one of our detection cameras, is highly visible along the interstate. Please be aware if you’re traveling in the area.
At this time, engines are arriving on scene, and no evacuations have been made. Follow this post for updates.
