Hey Hey! Here's a brand new thing for ya! LIVE at the El Cortez Theatre's "Mud Club Sessions", Taos New Mexico.
This beautiful adobe building was originally a convent from the 1800s, later becoming a funky funky one screen movie theater, and then, for decades, was the live/work space of celluloid hero Dennis Hopper. My friends J Michelle Martin and Johnny la Rocha have lovingly developed it into a multi use facility of recording, performance, and film screening, and have graciously opened the doors of this magical space to many local and visiting artists.
So here I am "exploring the space" of the theater. Being on tour then with Noelle & the Deserters, I had time enough for exactly two takes of something, I chose to play an old favorite, Spaceship Orion by the The Ozark Mountain Daredevils and I chose to do it with my favorite electric guitar through the El Cortez's spinning Leslie speaker cabinet. A looper pedal I had extremely little experience using allowed for the outer space guitar solo. Evidently it was a windy, bad allergy day for me because hair flyaways and an obvious tissue in my front pocket are on full display. It's real, I dig it.
Thanks to all at the El Cortez. I hope you enjoy. -JB
