Moment! Records is proud to announce that its most recent release "ZaRa" presents two recent Grammy Award winners, our founder Zakir Hussain and the brilliant bansuri player Rakesh Chaurasia. Between them, they were awarded five Grammys!

Moment! Records is proud to announce that our founder Zakir Hussain made history at the Grammys by winning in three categories (Best Global Music Performance, Best Global Music Album, Best Contemporary Instrumental Album), the first time this has ever been done by an artist from India. Two of these are shared with the brilliant flautist Rakesh Chaurasia, one of the quartet of musicians on “As We Speak” and with the great bassist Edgar Meyer and renowned banjo player Béla Fleck. Zakir also won for “This Moment” by Shakti, the groundbreaking band he formed with the legendary and iconic guitarist John McLaughlin. “This Moment” is Shakti’s first studio album, recorded during the pandemic, with eminent vocalist Shankar Mahadevan, the extraordinary percussionist Selvaganesh Vinayakram and virtuoso violinist Ganesh Rajagopalan. Video shows Zakir, Rakesh and Edgar receiving the Grammy for Best Global Music Performance.

Congratulations to Renee Fleming for last night’s Kennedy Center honor. Zakir Hussain and Mickey Hart collaborate with her in ongoing studies of music and the brain👏👏👏🙏

Tremendous congratulations to internationally renowned soprano, the Eastman School of Music’s own Renée Fleming '83E (MM), '11 (Honorary), for her lifetime of artistic achievements!

"…Looking back, which an award like this entices us; many teachers and mentors who supported me along the way are gone now.

It took not a village, but an army, you know, learning how to sing without a microphone. The most virtuosic music written over centuries is not easy.

You know, art and artists really can change hearts and minds. And we're allowed to with difficult problems in life and death. And because I'm in the opera world, we all die in opera.

The human condition gives voice to things we all share. Celebrating artistic achievement as we are tonight, inspires coming generations and helps us all to flourish in so many ways. This moment and sharing it with such magnificent fellow honorees fills my heart with so much gratitude. Thank you so much."
