The ACES national conference for editors is coming to Salt Lake City! I’ll be one of eight panelists participating in the conference's Ask the Editing Experts Roundtable on April 2nd at the Hilton Salt Lake City Center. This roundtable is an opportunity to ask questions and have discussions with editing professionals in a small-group setting. Unlike the traditional conference environment, there will be no presentations. Instead, multiple award-winning editors, writers, and coaches will be sharing their advice and experiences about topics such as freelance editing, author-editor relationships, and the publishing industry through a series of small-group roundtable discussions.

New rates go into effect for all contracts written on or after February 1, so if you'd like to lock in some work at the current rates, contact me soon! Editing projects are scheduling in March/April, but there are still some book design slots open in February.

Need some holiday mayhem? Join TypeCast RPG for a run-through of Warhammer RPG's starter set. Looseleaf's Kristy S. Gilbert guest stars, and the rest of the cast brings plenty of fun and flavor to the grim Warhammer setting. Healing halfling hugs for everyone! The first episode airs tonight at 7 PM Mountain time, and the wrap-up for the adventure airs next week at the same time!

The Kanab Writers Conference is a delight, and I'm happy to be teaching two classes there this year.

Time to kick off another round of "Meet the Presenter." This time, it's Kristy Stewart of Looseleaf Editorial and Production. She has been a book editor and designer for over seven years, and she’s worked with authors ranging from newbies just off their first novel drafts to bestselling pros.

She has a BA in English (with a minor in editing) and an MA in English (emphasizing folklore, fairy tales, and media studies). She is also an intermittent professor of various word-related subjects and one of the creators of a big data analysis project for fairy tales on TV.

Last year, she designed the cover for the conference anthology (to be unveiled as we approach the conference.) She also taught two very successful classes. This year, she's revisiting cover design during our Self-publishing seminar and also teaching a class about fairy tales. You don't want to miss it.
