This will be the only article we share regarding the flood the next few days, unless it is something we believe that the community needs to be aware of.
We pledge to not share any articles for clicks at the expense of our neighbors. https://br.eaking.news was put on hold for over two months after the flood for this exact reason. It was set to launch July 4.
Instead we launched https://hillcountryheart.org, a website dedicated to getting fast donations into the verified gofundme accounts of affected flood victims, our local VFD's and local charities. Upon learning of the launch of https://hillcountryhearts.com by MHDD later in July, we immediately redirected our website to the MHDD site, which we are not affiliated with, but rather grateful for what they have done in the Texas Hill Country.
With this being said, we are committed to ending indifference and will continue to share articles that we believe are important to fulfill this commitment.
We are also removing all flood articles from our feeds on br.eaking.news and users will have to tap the "Flood Articles" link at the top in the header if they decide to view these articles.
We are not censoring any information. We are, however, doing what we believe is the right in this situation, minimizing any surprises, and are doing our best to mitigate mental harm of our beloved community members.
Learn to discern. Get a plan in case you aren't prepared for any social media videos, audio, or articles that may appear on your feed in the upcoming days. Talk to your kids. Make sure that they know the plan and stick to it.
If you find yourself struggling with your personal mental health, or your children, there is no shame in reaching out to the professionals who are equipped and ready to help you. There is a list of resources for Kerr County residents at https://kerrtogether.com/mental-health-resources
