I really wanted to convert my old kit to a silent electronic kit for jamming after hours but it's sooooo expensive these days. By the time you buy the heads, triggers, brain, cables, and cymbals you could have bought an actual electronic drum set. Stupid.

Hahaha. I was making plans to BBQ with some friends and they suggested some jamming but we only had three vocalists and three drummers. But no guitarists! LOL Maybe we could scream over blast beats?

I don't care how good the drummer, the performance, the snare, or the mics are, every snare needs a little help to really cut through a mix. Not too much though, you can really gut a snare with too much processing.

Nobody warns you how heavy these guitars are! How the hell did they do all those guitar throws and tosses with an 80 pound guitar? For real though, I'm glad I practice sitting down so I don't get a bad back holding one of these for extended periods of time.

Mix only jobs are cool because you can make your own schedule and work in your PJ's but it doesn't take long before you miss the comradery that comes from collaborating with real people in the studio. Every client is an opportunity to learn something new or expand your horizons.

Is Gear Acquisition Syndrome beatable? I could easily blow $100k on guitar gear and still have items on my wish list. There's literally no end to it.

After eight years of faithful service, I've officially replaced the studio PC I had built back in 2018. I still can't believe this old gal lasted eight years and was still chugging along. But as my needs grew in the studio, I slowly realized we weren't going to make it another year without a major upgrade. I know it's just a PC but it's kinda sad each time I let go of a machine that helped me make so many projects a success.

Looking like I might be increasing my studio collection of cymbals in the near future but this holder here is about out of space. Before I design and build something a bit larger, anyone have any ideas what could be bought to do the same job on a larger scale?

That itch is coming back. Been a lot more drum practice around here and now I'm finally putting in the reps on the guitar again. I love being a multi-instrumentalist until it comes time to choose which one to work on.
