Many of you know that Wendy and I are involved as Associate Producers (WJTZ Media) on a new faith based wrestling movie, "Grace by Night" produced by Visionary Films.
I am happy to allow the Alabama wrestling community to view the "treatment" created by Nathan and Meghan Leon for their film "Grace by Night" starring Antonio Sabato, Jr. Nathan and Meg meet with Antonio again next week and it looks like filming will begin sometime late spring/early summer.
The script recently won the prestigious Kairos award for best uplifting screenplay.
Casting has started for the film and there are some terrific young Hollywood actors and some strong, well known cameos that will be featured in the film.
Lee Kemp, former NCAA champ, will be assisting with the wrestling scenes and wrestling choreography.
As a movie winds through the process in Hollywood, there are many steps and phases. One very important step that many movies never make it past is when they go from script to treatment. We are excited to see this project clear this major hurdle.
Two points takedown!
Studios require a "Treatment" which helps investors and distributors understand the feel and idea behind the film. What is great about this film is that it has investors and distribution already behind it.
The producers are continuing to grow this part of the process. We have assisted them recently also with location scouting.
I will update everyone on the progress. There will be additional promos and such featuring Alabama Hall of Fame coaches as we get closer to filming. We shot an amazing set of interviews last week with Randy Haught, Billy Hughes, and Duke Chimento.
This will be filmed 100 percent in Birmingham, Alabama and we will be talking with the wrestling community about their support! I will also be talking with some of our friends from the performing arts communities as well.
Yes, we will need extras for wrestlers, tournament workers, crowds, basic background scenes, etc. We will fill everyone in and will be excited to get you involved when we get to that step.
You will recognize some familiar faces in the treatment including former Alabama State Champion Manny Oliver playing our hero for the treatment. It also features Shad Rissler and Alabama Hall of Fame coach Toney Pugh

It was exciting to see Nathan Leon at work that day using our local kids for the treatment and we cannot wait to get to the second round with this project.
