During Tuesday night’s Titusville City Council meeting, the City Manager announced that the American Police Hall of Fame will be closing and that the facility will become available. The City has completed a site visit and is evaluating whether acquisition and renovation of the building for use as an Emergency Operations Center and Police Headquarters would be feasible. Staff are expected to return at the next council meeting with an advisability report.

The American Police Hall of Fame and Museum has been located in Titusville since 2003. The museum features exhibits on policing, including forensics, fi****ms, K-9 units, and SWAT teams. It also includes the nation’s first indoor memorial to officers who died in the line of duty, with more than 22,000 names inscribed on its walls, and a Hall of Fame recognizing contributions to law enforcement.

The museum was founded in 1960 by Gerald Arenberg, a former police officer who established the institution to honor law enforcement personnel. It was previously located in North Port and later in Miami before relocating to Titusville in 2003.
