Moon Oaxaca is publishing today! Scroll to hear more from our author Ashley Roberts:

"Oaxaca is my home away from home, and it was quite comforting to revisit familiar favorites while doing research for Moon Oaxaca, Second Edition. Drinking a cold coco on Oaxaca's pristine beaches, taking in the breathtaking views at Monte Alban, or trying to decide between a memela or a tlayuda for a quick snack never gets old. But what was truly a joy was venturing beyond my well-worn paths in the capital city and the coast to experience the cultural and natural delights of Oaxaca's other regions. Soaking in the sunsets in the Sierra Juarez, wandering the steamy streets of Tehuantepec, being doused in copal smoke after being invited to a neighborhood festival in Huautla de Jimenez, feeling awestruck amongst the cathedrals of La Mixteca... Oaxaca is a world within itself, and that's why it always calls me back."

Hear more about this amazing destination from author Julie Meade:
"Mexico City is an incredibly dynamic place. There is always something new to do, see, eat, or experience here, and creativity is off the charts in so many areas—art, design, food, urban culture, the list goes on.

At the same time, it's a city full of tradition and history. After visiting an avant-garde art exhibit or a new fusion restaurant, it's comforting to check in with an old Mexico City favorite—one of the places I've been visiting for decades. That's a coffee at Jekemir, a visit to the museum and murals at the Palacio de Bellas Artes, or a tequila at the traditional cantina Bar La Opera.

As a guidebook author, Mexico City is a challenging, dizzying, diverse, and deeply rewarding place to cover—and I wouldn't want it any other way."

Meet Jonathan DeHart, author of the new edition of MOON JAPAN and MOON TOKYO, KYOTO & HIROSHIMA (coming this September) 🇯🇵🏯

"During my time living in Japan, my home base has shifted from a small seaside town in Mie Prefecture to the garish streets of Osaka to a leafy suburb in western Tokyo. Throughout that time, I've slowly unpeeled the Japanese onion, one layer at a time. Discovering Kyoto, which is a never-ending process, leads one to Kanazawa, which only then leads to the discovery that there are, in fact, a glut of 'little Kyoto's' strewn across Japan. As I've taken this gradual deep-dive, I've found myself increasingly drawn to Japan's mellow outer-reaches, from Shikoku's vine-cloaked Iya Valley and Okinawa's white sand beaches to sacred mountain paths trodden by pilgrims in the wilds of Tohoku.

"As I researched the new editions of Moon's two Japan books last summer, I was smitten all over again by the Inland Sea, from Onomichi and the string of islands linked by the bridges of the Shimanami Kaido bicycling route, to the string of 'art islands' in the east. This region embodies the essence of Japan, which vacillates between ancient and modern, from the timeworn, salty fishing hamlets to the stunning blend of art and nature seen on Naoshima, Teshima and Inujima. These research trips have infinitely deepened my appreciation for the many sides of Japan, which I'm delighted to share in both books."

🌴 Meet Moon author Greg Archer! His brand-new book, Moon Best of Maui, hits shelves today: https://bit.ly/4lWigaO

“I went from Chicago native to California yogi, jetsetter, adventure-seeker and author. A surprise twist arrived when I found Moon Travel Guides and was welcomed in as a writer specializing on the wonderful island of Maui.

In addition to my fiction and journalistic work, I've spent a great deal of time exploring Maui, getting to know its people, the culture, and the vibrant locale. This all began when I was asked to housesit for friends who lived behind the Surfing Goat Dairy Farm in Kula. They lived on five acres filled with nearly 300 olive trees.

Views of Haleakala became awe-inspiring. I embraced the people and the land, and I was graciously accepted as well. I began hiking through Maui's stunning trails—from the forests in Upcountry to the flatlands in South Maui. Waterfalls, swimming, and other ocean adventures by boats followed. The island became my home, flanked by towering red sandstone walls. I also love visiting the region's surprisingly diverse galleries and art museums.

Recently, on a research trip for Moon Best of Maui, I fell back in love with the many hikes—and sunset and sunrise experiences—on Haleakala, the charted boat rides to Lanai, and the balmy beaches of South Maui. There's no place like Maui. Pure Heaven. Full of Aloha.”

Moon Nashville is publishing today!🎸

Meet author Margaret Littman:
“I chose to move to Nashville in college, and back later as an adult, because it is the quirkiest, most creative place I have ever been. It’s a place where people do weird things for a living and locals and visitors get to be the beneficiary of their creativity. Whether their creativity comes in the form of clothing design or songwriting or one-of-a-kind menus, I feel lucky that I get to explore it all and share it with readers. Nashville’s famous for honkytonks on Lower Broadway and hot chicken and the Parthenon. I love all those things. But when I get to share some of Nashville unexpected gems? That’s a great day.”

It's publication day for Moon Costa Rica! Author Nikki Solano has brought us another great edition of this book - read on for some words from Nikki:

"This noticeably windy observation deck, atop a tower that protrudes from the treetops within the Santa Elena Cloud Forest Biological Reserve, may be a challenging spot to snap a decent selfie but it's an easy place to fall in love with Costa Rica's vast lush landscape. Featuring cloud forest in the foreground and rainforest and the Arenal Volcano in the background, the views from the deck are both sweeping and stunning. An equally impressive sight is the dense reserve's trail-lined interior, especially when colorful, long-tailed quetzals are spotted flying between the stately trees that exhibit the forest's magnificence.

One of my favorite things about the Moon Costa Rica guidebook is that its curated experiences showcase opportunities to capture captivating moments. Sometimes those opportunities involve participating in a top activity, such as a zip-line tour or a white-water rafting excursion, and other times, often at lesser known or frequented places, they simply require mindfulness: noticing nature and wildlife, taking in views, and appreciating your surroundings. I have explored and educated others on the joy of experiencing Costa Rica for nearly two decades now and it is my pleasure to assist you in your quest for must-have travel moments, however thrilling and popular or gentle and private they may be."

Author Steph Dyson is back with another edition of Moon Chile!🏔️

When I first arrived in Chile back in 2016, I didn't realise it would be the start of a love affair with this humble South American country. I lived there for over three years but even when I moved back to the UK full-time, my infatuation only continued to grow. Nowadays, I spend months back in Chile each year, returning to my favourite spots, such as the beautiful mountain peaks of Patagonia, misty rolling hills of magical Chiloé, or the sun-drenched wine valleys south of Santiago.

For this edition, I took to the water to explore the Patagonian fjords with an expedition cruise. We sailed along the Beagle Channel, past the ice-capped peaks of the Darwin Mountains and into narrow channels, where glaciers heaved millennial ice into the water. It was a reminder that this country is spectacular from top to bottom and even after nearly ten years exploring, there's always another incredible experience to have.

Moon author Sarah Smierciak is back with another amazing edition of Moon Egypt!🌴
"I've been exploring beautiful Egypt since 2009 and every year brings new adventures. It's both a great challenge and a pleasure to try to capture the best of the country between the covers of a book. With every new edition, I enjoy the excuse to get out of my comfort zone in Cairo to revisit old treasures around the country and discover new ones. I hope you come to love Egypt as much as I have, with your Moon Egypt guidebook in hand!"

Moon author Andrew Hempstead is back with a brand-new edition of Moon Newfoundland & Labrador! 🇨🇦

"For rugged landscapes, interesting human history, and wonderful people I've always regarded Newfoundland and Labrador as one of the most special places to visit in Canada. Having grown up on the ocean, I'm drawn to the wild and rugged coastlines, especially out-of-the-way places such as the tiny islands along the north coast of Newfoundland, the west coast of the Northern Peninsula, and the Labrador Straits.

On my research trip for this new edition of Moon Newfoundland & Labrador, I returned to the invigorating Shamrock Festival at Ferryland, spent hours laying in the grass at Elliston viewing puffins, hiked to the summit of Gros Morne Mountain, and drove up the Trans-Labrador Highway to Happy Valley-Goose Bay. These experiences in Newfoundland and Labrador are part of my work as a writer, but also contribute to my love of the region, which I hope comes through in the new edition of Moon Newfoundland & Labrador."

👋 Meet Moon New England Hiking coauthor Miles Howard!

"As a native New Englander, I'm a romantic when it comes to seasons. In this corner of the world, the natural landscape and the towns and cities transform every few months.

A wildflowering field that I might have sauntered across in midsummer eventually transforms into a snowbound expanse so quiet that I can practically hear my own heart beat. A mountaintop that's reliably covered in mud each April yields one of the finest panoramic vistas during the height of fall foliage season.

And of course, when it's time to put away the hiking poles and head into town for a celebratory dinner, the local brewpub is reliably whipping up something that pairs with the elements outside; be it a sunny Kolsch or an obsidian imperial stout."
