Senior Spectrum is often involved in community events, health fairs, town hall meetings on changes in state policy, and legislative sessions that fund senior services. We are a strong advocate for aging issues, supporting the Older Americans Act and activities of the Nevada Aging and Disability Services Division. Supporting the Senior Services Network in Nevada is a mission Senior Spectrum fully e
ndorse because their goals align with our core values, that "Seniors deserve access to services that support independence and self-sufficiency, enabling self-determination as they move forward in the golden years." Senior Fest
Senior Spectrum also hosts Senior Fest, an annual event (each September) for active adults and senior citizens throughout Northern Nevada. Since 1995 Senior Fest continues to be the largest senior outreach event in the state of Nevada, where people can receive free health screenings, free flu shots, free blood pressure checks, and much more. Senior Fest connects seniors and caregivers to resources and vital services to help them age in place and maintain independence. On-site resources include health insurance counseling, information about assisted and independent living, assistive technology, park and recreation programs, Washoe County Senior Services, AARP advocacy, and numerous organizations that provide a variety of services for aging adults in the Truckee Meadows. It’s not all business though, the event also features live music and entertainment. Affiliations
