Sharing this fascinating and educational post from Juniper Equiland because when it comes to keeping our local landscapes thriving, it truly takes a village of tiny heroes 🐛🌿
Sure, bees and butterflies get most of the credit, but as Juniper reminds us…some of the most important pollinators & pest-controllers come with stripes, stingers, and a serious PR problem.
Here’s to celebrating the wasps, beetles, flies and more who quietly help make Aiken bloom. 🌸
Not all pollinators wear stripes or flutter by on colorful wings.
At Juniper Equiland, we love our bees and butterflies — but the real magic of a healthy ecosystem lies in its diversity. Moths, wasps, beetles, flies, and other overlooked insects are out there doing just as much heavy lifting in our pastures and gardens.
This beauty is Dielis plumipes, a large, solitary wasp that might look intimidating but is actually a gentle giant. She’s sipping nectar and helping pollinate our salvia — all while quietly keeping beetle populations in check underground.
Not all bugs are bad. The more we understand who’s really buzzing and crawling around out there, the better we can support a truly resilient landscape.
Let’s make space for the unsung heroes of the field. 🐝🦋🪲🦟
