KQRZ is trying to do its part supporting our local community. With this "virus goin' round", we were asked if we would help the students at Glenco High School by airing two radio dramas that they produced. We said "of course!". So, don't forget, tonight and tomorrow night at 8:00 PM we will be airing those plays. See the poster they created below. The Theater students, led by Lori Daliposon did a great job here! So, take a listen over the air or on our stream.

BTW, also pencil in that we will be airing our annual 1938 broadcast of "War of the Worlds" at 8:00 PM Saturday night. Boo! 👻

Have you heard the news??? KQRZ is now streaming on the NET! Go to our website home page and click on the arrow. We still have a few issues to work out....like having the correct artwork show up. But, hey, at least it's a start! Also, be aware, that this is the NET, streams go down occasionally due to users connection reliability. If that happens, just restart the stream! Thanks! Johnny....

Hello KQRZ Listeners! We got the station back on the air as of 4:30 PM this afternoon. We still have some tweaking to do as one of the catastrophes was our audio processing unit (along with our main computer). So, we need to adjust audio a bit more.

If you have comments regarding the audio or anything, please email us at our normal email address: [email protected] (the address is on our website too). That way we can keep track of them and respond better. We're kind of starting all over! Good thing we didn't loose all of our oldies!

This is the first time in over 6 years we've had this major of an outage. Thank you all for being so patient!! Regards! Ken, Marc, Keith, Jeff, Dan, and Johnny. Oh, and of course.... The Vegetable Man.....!

23/10/2019

Thank you all for sending in the forms. We are processing what we have now to see how everything looks. Stand by for a while until we process them all. The Oregon Amateur Radio Club cannot thank you enough for sending them in. We have the best listeners "On Planet Earth!" Thank you!!! Johnny.....🤗

Attention all KQRZ radio "fans and fanettes".....

Our tower crew finally crawled up on the roof and readjusted our transmit antenna and completed some other relevant important adjustments to our tiny low power station. This actually took place a few weeks ago. So, hopefully you have noticed our signal being a little bit stronger. Or, maybe you didn't notice a thing. Of course, this depends on your location. Anyway, we just wanted you all to know! Feel free to email us (link below) comments or suggestions if you like! We love all of or listeners!!!!

Thank you! Johnny Hurricane....

Headline News....from the KQRZ News Brew Pub Headquarters

(Hillsboro, OR) Many of you listeners may have experienced poor reception of KQRZ prior to mid February. We are currently in Phase II of upgrading our antenna system. The last 2 weeks we have been operating with our "short term" fix. So, hopefully, you have noticed the coverage is now about the same as it has always been. The next step is waiting for an extended period of better weather and our Chief Engineer to be in town (and out of the Brew Pub). At that point, we will have the final stages done to our antenna system.

Also, starting this Saturday and Sunday at Noon, we will be playing the ARRL Ham radio news show. This will run for about 14 minutes then we'll roll back into the great oldies we are known for playing, Hopefully, the news will be of interest to our nooner listeners. If we get lots of people complaining...well...we can always play some Montovani instead......

Thanks for your support, radio fans!

Hi there KQRZ listeners! Here is some trivia for you! On this day in 1974, One Hit Wonder "Billy Swan" started a two week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with 'I Can Help'. The song was a hit throughout most of Europe and also reached #1 in Australia. It was so successful in Norway where it charted for 37 weeks on the Norwegian charts making it the 4th best-performing single of all time in that country. Amazing....those wonderful 70's!

How'dy KQRZ'ers! This is the ole Vegetable Man. I just got back from my extended vacation in Monument Valley. I'm all tan and rested! Anyway, enough of this...I just wanted to pass on some Chubby news. It was 55 years ago today that Chubby Checker appeared on American Bandstand and performed 'The Twist.' The song went to No.1 on the US chart and again 18 months later in 1962. It is the only song to go to the top of the charts on two separate occasions.

I cant believe it was so long ago.It just seems like yesterday I was out there twist'en in my Hush Puppies. Here is the video for all of you youngsters out there in raadio laaand....

Many of you KQRZ listeners may have gotten wind of this. But, if you have friends over in the Portland area (east side especially) our sister ham club (The WORC) is going to fire up the resurrection of our sister station KISN. This will occur tomorrow @ 9:51 AM 56 years to the day that the original KISN launched in 1959. The frequency is 95.1 MHz. Signals should be good in East Portland in a car...who knows about in a house.

Sad news today for all.....Leonard Nimoy, the actor who won a global following as Mr. Spock, the logical human-alien first officer of the Starship Enterprise in the television and movie juggernaut “Star Trek,” died on Friday morning at his home in the Bel Air section of Los Angeles. He was 83.

His wife, Susan Bay Nimoy, confirmed his death, saying the cause was end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Okay fan’s, you may have already noticed that we have added some more material to our comedy arsenal. We’re not talking about 38 caliber fi****ms or gr***de launchers. We’re talking MP3’s! How can we not forget those famous speeches and moral lectures from Dragnet’s Sargent Joe Friday?

Stay tuned to the station that plays the greatest to get a "blast" out of these tidbits….KQRZ!

Hi my name is Shaun I go by double K on the air and I host a show that I created called the oldies show and I was wondering if your radio station would like to carry it it is a complete barter agreement if you are interested in my little radio show it’s an hour long I would like to know if you’d like to carry on 100.7 in Hillsboro Oregon
Hi all
This is just a note to say "thank you" for playing the music few stations play any more.
Thank you for no 10-minute ad breaks, no politics, no I-heart, no monotonous Leif's Collision Repair, no Home Depot ads.
I hope circumstances allow for a stronger broadcast signal one day soon.
You folks are golden.
I just found this gem
Thought you might like a video of me playing KQRZ on my home-made radio
Yay you're coming in loud and clear!! Happy girl here 🤩 now I can go to sleep 😴
Best version of Highway Star EVER!!!👍👍👍
And the Angels sing? Martha Tilton and Benny Goodman? My dad was in Benny's band around then. Another Johnny Mercer hit. Tossing in that gem made my day. KQRZ is the best radio station in the US! 73, W3VET
Hey, do you guys have a play list posted somewhere? I'd love be able to find some of your songs online to re-listen when I'm away from my radio.
We just found your station. We're also HAMs. Your playlist is wonderfully eclectic.
You just played Deep Purple's "Highway Star", live from the Made in Japan album -- one of my FAVORITES!! Thank you!
I love the fact that there are songs I have never heard. That is so cool! Along with really cool recognizable songs. Thanks for expanding my musical repertoire.
Thank you so much - you're a refuge from The Mueller Report, Nancy Pelosi, The Wall, and Impeachment. So so sick of it all. I like these truly moldy oldies, not the same 'ol "golden oldies" heard all the time. "Pieces of April" by Three Dog '72, "Reflections of My Life" by Marmalade '70, "Witchi-Tai-To" by Everything is Everything '68. I remember most of the lyrics; go figure. Love it.
