For the Job Seekers! Writing this in case it helps even one person.
After reviewing hundreds of resumes in my last two contract recruiting roles, here are a few things that keep coming up:
✅ Resumes with clearly bulleted experience and bolded keywords are a game changer. They’re easy to scan and give hiring managers exactly what they need to see, fast.
❌ Resumes that are uploaded as one big graphic (where I can’t copy/paste your contact info) slow down the process. You stand out, but not in a good way.
❌ File names like DHecko_2025(2)Final(3) make it look like you didn’t take the time. Rename your resume before submitting it. It’s a small detail that says a lot.
✅ You will stand out if you have your own website. It gives me a chance to read more about you before the interview and shows you’ve invested in yourself. It doesn’t need to be fancy, it just needs to exist. When I Google you, it’s great to find something with substance.
Hope this helps someone out there land their next role a little faster.
If you’re unsure how your resume comes across or want a second opinion, feel free to reach out, I’m happy to take a quick look.
