The Happy Kid Toolkit A valuable tool for healthy communication, resolving conflict biblically, taking thoughts captive. In this model, all kids are treated equally.

The Happy Kid Toolkit™ by The Happy Family Coach™ is all about teaching self-responsibility and self-care to children and teens; they learn healthy boundaries and how to be kinder to themselves and others. What makes The Happy Kid Toolkit™ powerfully effective is that we do not shame or blame kids for their behavior, no, not even bully's. We have instead developed a unique educational game that in

cludes a Reality Mat©, educational posters, training video, and reference cards, as a way to illustrate for kids (and adults) how to move off of the Unhappy Kid Triangle™. The Happy Kid Toolkit™ by The Happy Family Coach™ helps all kids to identify and learn to cooperate with Reality (the way life is). Using firm, friendly, and consistent reminders that are geared to help students to internalize and choose more positive action. Kids are encouraged, not from some touted altruistic jargon about being nicer to others, but from a very practical, no nonsense viewpoint, to see that cooperating with Reality is the best and kindest thing to do for themselves. (Many kids, frankly, have a difficult time feeling motivated to make positive changes in their behavior based strictly on it being right thing to do for others.) They are all people like you and me, who move on and off the Unhappy Kid Triangle™ throughout the day by playing the roles on it. There are no bad kids on the Unhappy Kid Triangle™, only confused kids who think they have to play painful roles to get their needs met. We show kids less painful ways to ensure that their needs are met. The wonderful thing about the model is that it starts making a difference right away! Children start feeling better as soon as they start applying what they are learning, and it self-perpetuates as their peers start catching on and seeing the results too! One of the reasons our program works so quickly and effectively with children and teens is because it allows teachers to turn classroom conflicts into opportunities for growth. Even the most volatile situations can be explored without the need to shame or blame anyone. Our mission is for children and teens to quickly learn how to spot when they are on the Unhappy Kid Triangle™, and learn to move OFF the Unhappy Kid Triangle™ as quickly as possible. Our goal is to provide guidance counselors, educators, and parents with a highly effective and easily comprehensible set of tools designed to teach children and teens how to shift their focus from fixing, overpowering, or cowering from others, to healthier forms of relating that allow them to encourage, empower, and meet equally those around them. It is amazing to watch what happens when a child realizes how their own painful thinking and resultant negative reaction is what is keeping them miserable! The Reality Mat™ makes such dynamics clearly visible so that even the most recalcitrant child can see its logic! Kids & Teens LOVE The Reality Formula and Happy Kid Toolkit because they easily relate to it!

NARME 2019 has been an incredible Conference this year. Excited to learn more about the brain and Neuroscience this morning. I’ll be coming back with some new activities and research to back up the importance of giving children tools to learn how to process thoughts, feelings and actions using various tools such as The Happy Kid Toolkit 🙏🏼😃

Throwback to this time last year (July 2018) when I was invited to offer Happy Family Coach & Happy Kid Toolkit Training at the NARME (National Association for Relationship & Marriage Education) 2018 Summit in Orlando, Florida. It was such a blessing to be there. Guess what? I’m actually back again this year! I’m in Nashville at The Sheraton Music City for NARME Summit 2019!

It’s Saturday. I had the perfect day planned for our family of four. Workout this morning, followed by lunch at home, then SUPing down the Tennessee River. It didn’t go as planned though. The kids had a lunch date they had committed to that I had forgotten about. I felt that part of me (the one that wants ALL plans to go as planned) beginning to stir. It felt bad. I felt out of control. I wanted to demand that everyone stick to ‘my plans’. I wanted to convince them that it would be fun and a great activity for us to do together as a family. Thank God those feelings subsided and with a deep breath and a prayer, I was able to smile and let it go! Peace came over me and I was able to respond in love and with kindness, letting the kids know how important it was for them to keep their lunch plans. My husband and I ended up having a wonderful paddle on the river together. Just the two of us. Guess we needed some alone time. We ended up meeting up with the kids at the pool afterwards. Great reminder for me today to be still and trust the process 😉
