City Receives Half a Million for Screw Press By John Earp At the June 23rd meeting of the Jal City Council last Monday evening, City Manager Wes Hooper gave his report to the council, stating, “Last week, we were awarded an emergency grant through the State Board of Finance for $500,000 to purchase a screw press for our waste water treatment plant, which will help our sludge issue that we have out there right now, getting rid of that, and then of course we look to rebuilding that waste water treatment plant in the fall when we’re through with construction of it....

Council Passes Several Resolutions Monday By John Earp At the June 23rd meeting of the Jal City Council this past Monday, several resolutions were discussed, voted on and passed. Resolution #2025-55, authorizing approval for the destruction of certain records was passed. Mayor Aldridge stated that this was regular housekeeping. Resolution #2025-56, authorizing a renewal agreement with AirMedCare Network passed. Resolution 82025-57, authorizing the certification of capital asset for Fiscal Year 25/26, Resolution #2025-58, authorizing the submission of a loan application with Rural Community Assistance Corporation (RCAC), and Resolution #2025-59, authorizing and providing for the incurrence of indebtedness for the purpose of providing portion of the cost of acquiring, constructing, enlarging and/or extending its public body facility to service area lawfully within its jurisdiction to serve, as well as Resolution #2025-60, authorizing a water and waste system grant agreement between the City of Jal and the United States Dept. of Agriculture - Rural Utilities Services was passed. All the above resolutions passed unanimously. Councilors Richard, Ward, Trevino and Smith were present.
