** HAZARDOUS WEATHER TRACKER **

SCALE: NON(GREEN), LOW(YELLOW), MODERATE(ORANGE), HIGH(RED), PURPLE(EXTREME).

SUNDAY 7/6: (LOW) Increasing temperatures and returning humidity levels will push heat index values into the low-90s for many locations Sunday afternoon. Southwestern Pennsylvania will be the hotspot, with heat index values climbing into the mid-90s. Nothing extreme, but a low risk. Stay hydrated and cool!

MONDAY 7/7: (MODERATE) Scattered heavy thunderstorms will be possible across western and northern Pennsylvania in the afternoon/evening. Some of these storms can be strong and bring gusty winds. Any storm can also have the potential to produce flash flooding. Remnants of Tropical Storm Chantal will impact eastern Pennsylvania, bringing a primary risk for flash flooding with heavy, slower-moving thunderstorms.

TUESDAY 7/8: (MODERATE) Scattered strong to possibly severe thunderstorms, primarily across central and eastern Pennsylvania. Some storms will produce gusty to damaging winds. Any slower-moving storm or areas that receive multiple storms will be at risk of flash flooding, due to recently saturated soils and high atmospheric moisture content.

WEDNESDAY 7/9: (NONE) No hazardous/significant weather is currently expected.

THURSDAY 7/10: (LOW) Another round of heavy and possibly stronger thunderstorms during the afternoon/evening hours. The entire state may be at risk of these afternoon thunderstorms.

Stay tuned for updates over the next few days. It is about to get much busier after a quiet 4th of July weekend. ⛈️

As part of the Irwin Borough Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System, or MS4, Permit with the Pennsylvania DEP, the Irwin Borough Council would like to remind all people who live in and work within the Borough that our storm sewer inlets, curbs and gutters, drainage ditches and storm pipes discharge directly and untreated into Brush Creek, Tinkers Run and other natural waterway tributaries within the Borough. In order to help keep our streams and lakes clean and pollution-free, we remind residents and businesses to please:
Wash your vehicle at a commercial car wash or if washing it at home, wash it within a grassy or gravel area. Divert wash water into the grass area to avoid storm inlets directly.
