I interview political consultant Frank Calabrese on the controversy surrounding the Samantha Steele DUI case in which a retired judge was called in to handle the case (rather than a jury).

Steele refused to take a DUI field Sobriety Test after her accident on Nov. 10, 2024. I think that elected officials should be REQUIRED to take a Sobriety test if they are stopped for DUI. And if they refuse, they should be immediately removed from office. They have a responsibility to the public that is higher and greater than the responsibility of the taxpayers in terms of their conduct and the perception of politics.

Fortunately, Steele lost re-election on March 17, 2026.

Chicago to dedicate street in honor of Arab American businessman Jamil “Jimmy” Ayesh. Jamil “Jimmy” Ayesh owned a grocery store that helped all of the neighbors in the Back of the Yards community. In honor of his legacy, Chicago will install an honorary sign recognizing his humanity. The street sign placement will be dedicated on Saturday, April 25, 2026, as a part of Arab American Heritage Month. The street sign placement was sponsored by 15th Ward Alderman Ray Lopez.
