A man is in custody after an officer-involved shooting and hours-long standoff Thursday morning near the intersection of C13 and Franklin Avenue in Butler County, according to the Iowa State Patrol and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.

Authorities say the incident began around 9:10 a.m., when the Butler County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting that a man was shooting into an occupied residence, with multiple people trapped inside. Deputies and ISP troopers were immediately dispatched.

New story on our Radio•On•The•Go page about an attempted break-in in Hampton.

A Hampton man was arrested early Tuesday morning after police say he attempted to break into an occupied home.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Franklin County District Court, 38-year-old Corey Ryan Casady was taken into custody after officers responded to a call reporting that he tried to open a sliding door and enter a home on 7th Street Southwest while residents were inside.
