On this day 30 years ago, The New Hinsons reached #1 on the Singing News chart with their powerful song “Oasis.”

The song, written by brothers Ronny Hinson and Kenny Hinson, held the top spot for four consecutive months (April–July 1996) and was named Singing News Song of the Year for 1996.

Here’s the meaningful story behind it: In Kenny’s final days, as he battled cancer, his brother Ronny brought the song to him in the hospital. Even while fighting illness, Kenny — a gifted songwriter — suggested changes from his hospital bed. “Oasis” became one of the last songs the brothers co-wrote. Just weeks later, it was sung by the family at Kenny’s funeral in 1995.

Where His grace is, living waters flow.
