Winter Weather Advisory issued December 1 at 5:10PM EST until December 2 at 1:00PM EST by NWS Baltimore MD/Washington DC ...

FIRST WIDESPREAD WINTER EVENT OF THE SEASON...
Precipitation is expected to overspread the area after midnight tonight from southwest to northeast. While precipitation is likely to start as snow areawide, it is expected to mix with and change to sleet and freezing rain for most of the area. Locations along and south of US-50/I-66 likely end the event as rain as temperatures warm through the morning.

Areas along the Mason-Dixon Line are most likely to remain all snow through the event, but that remains uncertain given exact low track. The Tuesday morning commute could be impacted for all areas in the Winter Weather Advisory. Updates to the forecast are likely, so please remain weather aware for the first widespread winter event of the season.

* WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow and sleet accumulations of 1 to 2 inches, with locally higher amounts upwards of 4 inches possible near the Mason-Dixon Line and higher elevations such as Parr's Ridge. Ice accumulations up to one tenth of an inch.

* WHERE...Portions of north central and northern Maryland and panhandle West Virginia.

* WHEN...From 3 AM to 1 PM EST Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning commute.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Precipitation is expected to overspread the area after midnight tonight. Precipitation is expected to start as snow before mixing with sleet and freezing rain. Should precipitation stay all snow or snow for a longer period of time, locally higher snowfall amounts would be possible.

Our Story

www.FrederickScanner.com ★ The Frederick Scanner is a live window into the County of Frederick, Maryland. Streaming we**ams and audio.

The Frederick Scanner came to life during the winter storm of 2010 that we like to refer to as "Snowmageddon 2010". For the most part, residents of Frederick (as well as everyone else on the East Coast) were stuck in their homes, immobilized, wondering what was happening around them. The news channels were overflowing with news but not much news specific to our area, Frederick, Maryland. Because of that the Frederick Scanner sprang to life with alerts, news, video and audio tailored specifically for residents of Frederick. Operating on a shoestring budget, the Frederick Scanner was able to throw together a live audio stream of Frederick Fire, Police, Rescue and Highway Service radios. Then, to add a picture to the audio, live highway video and frequently updated we**am pictures from around the county were included. The Frederick Scanner also utilizes Twitter and Facebook to broadcast Frederick, MD specific weather, emergency and school alerts. Be sure to "Like" us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter. The purpose of this site is simply to help residents of Frederick, Maryland see and hear things going on around them. Whether its police/fire/rescue related, weather related, etc, the Frederick Scanner tries to keep you informed.
