If you raise Croad Langshan’s , Black Copper Marans or Pita Pinta’s you already know the struggle. Broody season hits and suddenly your best layers are glued to empty nest boxes, on strike from production entirely. Kick them out and they’ll just hunker down on the floor — no eggs, no nest, no problem. Meanwhile your customers are waiting and your shipping schedule is falling apart. 😒 People always warn you about Silkies going broody, but nobody talks about how Croad Langshan’s are just as bad. Consider this your warning Lol

Fun fact, a lot of the “raw milk cheese” brands you see at the grocery store are not actually raw. ❌😬 They are heated just below legal pasteurization temperatures of 161°F and labeled “raw”. The term raw is not regulated. Only the term pasteurization is regulated. A truly raw cheese isn’t heated above 102°F, which is the body temperature of the cow at which the milk comes out at! 🐄 When raw milk is heated above 115°F, denaturing of proteins and destroying of beneficial bacteria occurs.
