In 2024, youth participating in the Rap America Project demonstrated measurable growth in creative skills, teamwork, and confidence.
Before the program, only 33% of participants felt confident in their ability to write a song; after the program, 100% reported that they now know how. Familiarity with microphones rose from 25% to 83%, and self-reported teamwork skills increased from 42% to 100%. Additionally, 83% of participants reported a boost in self-confidence. Importantly, 100% of participants said they felt safe during the program.
In open-ended feedback, participants described their experience as “amazing,” “exciting,” and “fun,” with several sharing that the project helped them “expand my personality” and “learn how to write good music.”
