ZAXBY’S ORDER GOES MISSING — AND THIS GUY MAY KNOW WHERE IT WENT 🛵🍗

MARTINEZ, GA: The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office is looking for the pictured man after deputies say he took another customer’s online order from Zaxby’s at 3969 Columbia Road on July 29.

According to investigators, the man left with the order without making any payment to the business. He was last seen heading toward Washington Road on a light-gray scooter — which, apparently, also decided it didn’t need a tag. 🛵😂

If you recognize this man or know who he is, please call the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office at 706-541-2800.

If contact is made with him, deputies ask that you hold him and notify Investigator White or the on-call investigator.

FORMER GREENBRIER ELEMENTARY EMPLOYEE CHARGED WITH DISTRIBUTING N**E PHOTO OF 5-YEAR-OLD BOY

A former Greenbrier Elementary School paraprofessional is facing a felony-level criminal charge after an investigation into an inappropriate photo involving a former 5-year-old student.

Abigail Vargas, who worked as a special education pre-K paraprofessional at Greenbrier Elementary, has been charged with distribution of material depicting nudity or sexual conduct under Georgia law.

The charge follows allegations first disclosed by the school Aug. 19, when Principal Ashlee Odom notified parents that a current paraprofessional had resigned amid allegations involving an inappropriate photo taken of a former student more than a year earlier. Authorities say she sent an inappropriate photo of a 5-year-old boy to a third party.

The school said at the time that it immediately contacted Columbia County School District Police after the allegations were brought to its attention. The investigation was ongoing, and Vargas was no longer employed by the district.

In a new message to parents, Odom said the school had been notified that Vargas was facing criminal charges in Columbia County and that she was no longer employed by the district.

“Currently, law enforcement officials have informed us only one former student was involved,” Odom said. The school has not released the age of the former student or described the photograph.

Georgia's O.C.G.A. § 16-12-81 prohibits a person from sending or otherwise causing unsolicited material depicting nudity or sexual conduct to be delivered to another person, residence or office without the required warning notice. The law defines nudity to include uncovered or insufficiently covered ge****ls, p***c areas or buttocks, as well as certain depictions of male ge****ls. It also defines sexual conduct to include sexual acts or physical contact involving the ge****ls, p***c area, buttocks or female breast.

The statute carries significant penalties. A conviction can result in one to three years in prison, a fine of up to $10,000, or both.

Public records reviewed online confirm Vargas worked for the Columbia County Board of Education as a special education paraprofessional during 2024 and 2025.

Odom said student and staff safety remains the school's top priority.

🚨 WANTED FOR QUESTIONING IN AUGUSTA HOMICIDE 🚨

Richmond County investigators are seeking 18-year-old Trenton Le’nandez Conner for questioning in the Aug. 21 shooting on Old Waynesboro Road in Augusta that killed 21-year-old Ronald Wynn II and left a woman injured.

Wynn was shot in the 3800 block of Old Waynesboro Road and later died at Wellstar MCG. Deputies found Wynn and a woman suffering from gunshot wounds when they arrived at the scene.

Conner is known to frequent the Old Waynesboro Road and East 6th Street areas. Investigators emphasize that he is wanted for questioning ONLY and has not been accused of the homicide.

HOSPITAL GUNFIRE SUSPECT WAS AN EMPLOYEE WHO CLAIMED SOMEONE WAS TRYING TO KILL HER

New details are emerging after Tuesday night’s frightening gunfire at Aiken Regional Medical Center.

Investigators say Celeste Alandra Martin was working at the hospital as a subcontractor when shots were fired on the third floor near the Sleep Study Lab. Officers eventually found Martin hiding in the ceiling of a storage closet, where she repeatedly screamed for help and told officers someone was trying to kill her.

Martin claimed a man with dreadlocks and a red shirt was after her and later said she believed he and four other people were threatening her. But after searching the hospital, officers found no evidence anyone else was involved.

STUNNING TURN IN TUCKER SMITH MURDER CASE

After being convicted of brutally killing her 2-year-old son Tucker and spending nearly 10 years behind bars, Augusta mother Mary Katherine Smith is expected to walk free after a Richmond County judge vacated her felony murder conviction and life sentence Wednesday.

Smith then pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 12 years, setting the stage for her release.

The decision followed three days of testimony about new medical evidence involving a condition Tucker suffered from. DA Jared Williams said the evidence could have been significant had it been discovered before the original trial, and his office ultimately determined second-degree murder was the appropriate charge.

Former DA Natalie Paine, who prosecuted the original case, called the outcome a “gross miscarriage of justice” and “travesty of justice.” Williams fired back, saying his office fought to preserve the conviction and that prosecutors should be focused on uncovering the truth.

Smith’s original conviction had been upheld by the Georgia Supreme Court in 2020.

LICENSE PLATE READERS DAMAGED, EVANS TEEN ARRESTED AFTER INVESTIGATION

Investigators say an 18-year-old Evans man is behind bars after a trail of damaged license plate readers led deputies to him.

Two Genetec license plate readers were damaged Aug. 10 around Pollard’s Corner in Appling. Investigators later discovered a damaged Flock license plate reader on North Tubman Road.

Traffic cameras and license plate reader footage helped investigators identify a possible suspect vehicle. Then, around 9 p.m. Tuesday near Savannah Rapids Pavilion, deputies spotted a suspicious vehicle matching that description.

That investigation led to Joshua L. Osborne, 18, of Evans.

Osborne is now being held without bond at the Columbia County Detention Center on felony charges of criminal damage to property and theft by taking, along with possession of burglary tools and interference with government property.

The sheriff’s office says additional charges could be coming as the investigation continues.

🚨 WANTED: HEPHZIBAH MAN ACCUSED OF ASSAULTING DISABLED WOMAN

Laricka Jermaine Williams, 38, is wanted on an aggravated assault warrant stemming from an incident Tuesday in Augusta.

According to the sheriff's office report, the 33-year-old woman, who is disabled and has difficulty speaking, told deputies that Williams became angry after another male friend unexpectedly stopped by her apartment. She said Williams then became physical, allegedly grabbing her around the neck and slapping her in the face several times.

Deputies documented injuries they observed on the woman, including scratch marks on both sides of her neck and a laceration to her bottom lip.

Despite the alleged attack, the report states Williams remained at the woman's apartment afterward and stayed there overnight. The woman later left the residence and went to her mother's home, where she was able to tell her mother what had happened.

Williams is described as 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighing 150 pounds. He does not share children with the woman and the two have never lived together, according to the report.

GUNFIRE CHAOS AT AIKEN HOSPITAL ENDS WITH SUSPECT BEHIND BARS

39-year-old Celeste Martin is being held WITHOUT BOND at the Aiken County Detention Center after police say she opened fire inside Aiken Regional Medical Centers Tuesday night, sending officers rushing through the hospital as they searched for potential victims.

No injuries were reported and no victims were found, but the motive and what led to the gunfire remain unanswered. Aiken DPS is expected to provide more information as the investigation continues.
