I had a fantastic chat with Dr Mel who runs a podcast show called The Homeschool Sanity Show. Psychowith6: Homeschool Sanity is a Christian psychologist and veteran homeschooling mother of six, Dr. Melanie Wilson, solves homeschoolers’ biggest headaches every Tuesday. In her recent episodes How & Why to Teach Guitar in Your Homeschool, we talked about:

- Why is it important to teach music in your homeschool?
- Why is the guitar a good instrument to have your student learn?
- What are the options for learning guitar and their pros and cons?

It's an easy and relaxing listen packed with tips and nuggests about music education that you might not have heard elsewhere! Head over and check it out. The full episode is ready for you to stream at the bottom part of the web page.

I am LOVING working with this amazing talented family. Both kids are creative and work really hard and I think we'll soon be sharing some very inspiring student work. It's heart-warming to see the dedication that this family has put into music and music lessons. No child can thrive without the right environment and support. At Gentle Guitar we always work as a TEAM with the child and the parent. The teacher is just there to guide and inspire, but it's the work that the kids do AT HOME that makes the difference. If you have questions about music lessons, this homeschool mom is happy to chat to you! We are a small global family sharing our love for music and creativity. Don't be shy, reach out to this wonderful family. We are ready to help you and your kids get started enjoying music!

Do you love music? We have music playing constantly in our home and our 3 oldest are all taking lessons of some sort.

2 of them are taking guitar lessons through Gentle Guitar & Music Education Magaziner and I can't recommend it enough! I love seeing how much they have grown and how often they go to their guitar to release stress, have fun or most importantly, praise Our Creator!

I also love that these lessons are done in our home and I don't have to run anyone to lessons! I will admit, I was apprehensive at first about lessons via Skype, but Inga and Lance are amazing and are very in tune (no pun intended) with what their students are doing!

If you have children that are interested in learning to play the guitar, you should really check it. Here is an article that I wrote more about it and if you click on the link in the article, you can even book a free trial lesson to see what its like!

Have questions? I'm happy to answer from a parent perspective!

Getting kids to learn about music as young as possible will open so many doors!

Music, when approached correctly, is a discipline like the martial arts. It builds the SPIRIT and exposes a child to a daily work-ethic that will later in life create opportunities for personal and professional success!

Music is much more than an extracurricular activity - it has remarkable transformative and developmental power that so few parents and teachers take advantage of today.

A REAL music educator knows this secret power and will open a DOOR into each child’s mind and heart and will teach each child to reach for the stars. The true purpose of every educator is to discover and develop each child’s potential.

Aden W. has been working hard to polish his performance piece. Music is a fantastic pastime for kids and teens of all ages. It improves concentration, it's fun, and it develops a positive work-ethic for life. The younger kids start learning a musical instrument, the better! At GG we are very proud of Aden and his teacher Maddie for a job well done!!!!

"We first found out about Gentle Guitar through The Homeschool Sisters Podcast and have been taking guitar lessons since March 2017. Our son loved it so much that after the free trial we decided to continue the lessons. We were skeptical at first, but after the first couple of lessons on Skype we quickly realized that this was an amazing way for our son to learn how to play guitar." http://buff.ly/2rHgcvC
After watching a couple videos of children on your page, it made me wonder about whether it is better to learn guitar first by chords or single notes.

I'm primarily a woodwind player, so I can appreciate children learning to read music yet I always felt that my linear approach to musical notation hindered my ability to process chord concepts for guitar and piano. So, I've been inclined to start with chords with my son and niece. Having them bite bullet.

My husband is a guitarist who learned by ear and he is inclined to start with chords because your music is instantly fleshed out, you can immediately "make music" that others can join in on.

What's your take on it?
It looks like your program starts with plucking individual notes, right?
Or have you posted on the matter and I just missed it?
Wonderful page! 😊
Hello from Texas! The Homeschool Sisters sent me, I have four boys who are interested in playing the guitar.
