So, what we are left with is anecdotal evidence and testimonials, both present-day (Whoopi Goldberg) and historical (Queen Victoria), supporting the use of ma*****na to treat menstrual cramps."

A bill to cover doulas under Medicaid passed the Indiana legislature and was signed into law. The money for the measure, however, was stripped out of the budget in the last days of session.

In my conversation with midwife Stephanie Mitchell, we talked about how mothers who need doulas the most often can't afford them. So I was happy to find out that Indiana just passed a law extending Medicaid coverage to doulas. It's the third state to do so, after Minnesota and Oregon. Thanks to my former coworker Jill Sheridan Poulos for her reporting.
