Eddie and Elaine Pedockie have spent the last 18 years making their house feel like home, and now, their efforts have caught the attention of the community.

It’s not every yard that combines beautiful bloom, balance, and a bit of engineering. The Pedockies’ does, and it just won them June’s Curb Appeal Award, organized by Thrive Excelsior and sponsored by Hightower Heritage.

The Excelsior Springs Board of Education approved the district’s $41.2 million budget for fiscal year 2026, adopted updates to the teacher career ladder program, and recognized outgoing superintendent Dr. Jaret Tomlinson during a 90-minute regular meeting held Tuesday, June 24.

With 43 staff resignations this year and a projected $2.4 million budget shortfall, the Excelsior Springs School Board weighed critical staffing and funding issues during its June 24 meeting, while also recognizing outgoing superintendent Dr. Jaret Tomlinson.
