TIGER SOFTBALL WINS ONE, TIES ONE ON FINAL DAY OF BRANSON TOURNAMENT

BRANSON, Mo. — A last-ditch rally by Pryor pulled the Tigers even against Willard, Mo., Saturday morning, but a tournament time limit ended the game at 4-4 after just four innings. The Tigers bounced back in the second game of the day to defeat Ozark, Mo., 5-1.

The tie was the first game of 2026 not to go into the Pryor win column. The Tigers, 3-0-1 in Branson for the weekend, are 24-0-1 for the season.

In the critical fourth inning, Kash Rice hit a triple and scored when Willard threw out Peyton Decker attempting to steal second base. Payton Jackson's triple, plus two intentional walks loaded the bases with just one out. But consecutive pop-up outs ended the threat.

The Tigers had a 3-0 lead through three innings, but a grand slam home run by Willard’s Callie Ebert in the top of the fourth erased the deficit, and the Tigers trailed 4-3.

“We didn’t play very well (this morning),” said coach Chell Looney. “Our pitching wasn’t very sharp. Our batters hit too many pop-ups, and left too many on base. And we also didn’t catch a couple of fly balls that we should have.”

Pryor took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a Payton Jackson single, a walk, and a Caylee Kerr double. Singles by Olivia Hampton and Jackson made it 3-0 after two innings.

In the second game (also called early because of the time limit), Pryor jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first. A hit batter, a single by Camaya Renshaw (who led all Pryor hitters in the tournament with eight), and a triple by Kerr made it 2-0. Mckenna Yancy’s single drove in Kerr for the third run.

Renshaw’s double, an error, and a fielder's choice made it 4-0 in the third inning. Pryor added one more in the sixth when Peyton Morrison was hit by a pitch and eventually scored on Tayla Vance’s single.

Pryor travels to Coweta for a 5 p.m. game Monday, then returns to the PHS field Tuesday for a 5 p.m. game against arch rival Claremore.

PRYOR WINS FIRST TWO GAMES IN BRANSON, 13-0, 12-1

BRANSON, Mo. — Pryor flexed its batting prowess Friday night, scoring 25 runs in two games to blank West Plains, Mo., 13-0, and Cassville, Mo., 12-1.

The Tigers, 24-0 on the season, got clutch pitching from Caylee Kerr in the first game with help from Addisyn Brixey. Coda Taylor went the distance in the second game.

Pryor jumped on West Plains pitcher Roxy Bryant for seven runs in the first inning and kept the heat on the rest of the way. Camaya Renshaw hit 3 for 3, which included a home run, two doubles, and two runs-batted-in.

Kerr pitched four innings of the shortened five-inning game, allowing just two hits and striking out six. Brixey came on to pitch a flawless fifth inning.

Mckenna Yancey hit 2 for 3 with two runs-batted-in. Peyten Decker hit 2 for 2. Olivia Hampton was 2 for 3 with a double. Tayla Vance and Kerr each hit doubles.

Coda Taylor pitched the second game, striking out eight, walking none, and allowing four hits.

Kerr continued her hot hitting, driving in five runs with a triple and a single to lead a 16-hit attack. Her triple in the first inning drove in three runs. Her other two RBIs came on her single in the fourth inning and a sacrifice fly in the fifth.

By the time the Tigers scored five runs on six hits in the fourth inning, the result was all but decided.

Four other Tigers had big nights at the plate. Vance hit 4 for 4, including a double. Jackson was 3 for 4, two of which were doubles. Yancey was 3 for 4, giving her five hits in the two games. And Renshaw was 2 for 4, including a triple.

The Tigers will be up and at ’em early Saturday, taking on Willard, Mo. at 8 a.m., followed by an 11 a.m. game vs. Ozark, Mo.

Pryor travels to Coweta this Monday for a 5 p.m. game, then returns home Tuesday for a 5 p.m. matchup against arch rival Claremore.

TIGER BOYS WIN CROSS COUNTRY TEAM COMPETITION; PRYOR GIRLS AND BOYS FINISH NEAR TOP INDIVIDUALLY

Pryor’s boys and girls cross country runners finished near the top of Friday morning’s high school 5K distance races held on the Tigers’ course, across from the football stadium. Among 16 participating schools, Pryor won the boys team competition with a score of 48, finishing ahead of Grove (52), Claremore (78), Rejoice Christian (131) and Muskogee (178).

The Tiger boys’ top five harriers finished third, ninth, 10th, 11th, and 15th, in a field of 135. That group included John Burns, 19:02.31; Buddy Brown, 19:34.09; Yosvani Rueda, 19:34.16; Rogue Brown, 19:41.24; and Isaac Chavoya, 20:17.95. Winner of the boys race was Grove’s Gunner Cox in 17:47.66, followed by Westin Marshall of Rejoice Christian in 18:08.56.

On the girls side, Ally Martin and Braycee Trundle were the only Pryor runners, but they both finished near the top of a field of 84 runners. Martin finished third in 21:33.67, and Trundle finished fourth in 21:55.09. Stella Peck of Rejoice Christian won the race in 20:43.60, followed in second by Allie Hasselman of Grove in 21:13.64.

“We didn’t run the times we wanted to,” said Trundle. “It was good at the start, but I felt everything starting to change in Mile 2.” Martin, who was leading at the end of the first lap, said she also felt good at that point, but in the second lap the ever-present heat and humidity took its toll. Both Trundle and Martin led the race at various points.

“They did good today – performed just like they should have,” said Melissa Harlow, Pryor girls coach. “Ally came out just like we wanted her to. We just have to buckle down, stay with them, and fight ’em off. She can do that. Ally has that in her.”

Same with Braycee, said the coach. “Braycee, she can run up in the top group. She just has to believe that. We know that she can.”

The boys’ top finisher, John Burns agreed with the girls’ assessment of the conditions. “This was not a PR (personal record) course,” he said. “But I felt good finishing third, and I beat one person out there who beat me the last time,” he said.

Boys Coach Jamie Nofsinger was happy but not particularly surprised that his 29-person strong team produced five runners who today finished top 16.

“I thought we had a pretty good chance to win,” he said. “Our closest competition were Grove and Tahlequah, and we handled them quite easily. Whenever your top five finish in the top 16, you are hard to beat.”
