S. 1ST STREET CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:

W. Spring Street and W. Sheridan Drive will remain closed through the weekend at S. 1st Street. Work on milling in the tie in streets will continue through today and early next week.

The first course of the mainline paving should be complete by the end of the day today.

The second course of mainline paving will be done on Monday and Tuesday.

The City recommends using alternate routes when possible the rest of today and on Monday and Tuesday if possible. You will arrive at your destination faster by limiting S. 1st Street to local traffic only.

S. 1ST STREET CONSTRUCTION UPDATE: The contractor is on-site today placing all of the shoulder rock needed. They plan to complete this today. They plan to begin placing the mainline asphalt tomorrow.

They hope to get one lane done each day and the shoulder will be paved at the same time as the road. Each lane is getting two lifts (passes) of asphalt, and they are anticipating 4 days total to get all of the mainline paving done. If they don’t have any delays, they should be able to get the mainline all paved by the end of the week.

Next week they plan to come back and complete the tie ins for the entrances and side streets.

The City recommends local traffic only on S. 1st Street the rest of this week. Avoiding S. 1st Street if possible will lessen congestion. Selecting an alternative route will provide you with faster travel to your destination.

Hello Eldridge Family and Friends!

School zones are back in business starting Monday, Aug. 25th! That means 25 mph is the name of the game.

The Eldridge Police Department will be out making sure morning drop off looks more like a parade rather than a NASCAR race.

Remember: Phones down, seatbelts tight, stop at the crosswalks, and look both left, and right.

Take it slow, let the good times roll, and let’s all start the school year off on the right foot (and the light foot ) 😉👍

Yours in Service,

The Eldridge Police Department 🚔
