Often, it’s while traveling through the darkness that we find our guiding light.
In the Christmas season, we are often surrounded by lights, and it’s easy to either forget the darkness we’ve journeyed through or to miss others who can’t yet see the light through their darkness.
And that might just be the reason God leads us down these paths. The darkness refines our sight so we can see the struggle in others. In that darkness, pain and struggle, we join the brotherhood of humanity.
I have walked the dark road for a while. I call it my “Three Years in the Dessert with Jesus.” During that time, I learned powerful lessons as I trudged that rocky road with my hand in His.
Many may look at my past and see only the darkness and brokenness.
But I see the light I found, the brothers I’ve lifted, and the opportunities I’ve been given — opportunities I would never have discovered on a different road.
Now that I’ve emerged from my darkness, I get to give hope to others still wandering. I get to be the guiding light for the next guy.
And I get to point people to the True light — Jesus.
What about you? Do you let you past Define you or Refine you? Have you got lost in the darkness, or was the Twilight Road your path to the light?
Do you squat on your pain or walk out your purpose?
In my darkness, I walked toward the light.
Will you?
