Honoring Black Leadership Across Harris County

In celebration of Juneteenth, Precinct2gether is proud to highlight 19 distinguished African American leaders whose contributions have uplifted communities and advanced progress across Harris County.

Today, we honor Rev. David L. Smith, who has faithfully served as the Senior Pastor of New Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Houston for over 33 years.

A graduate of MacArthur High School, Pastor Smith pursued higher education at the College of Biblical Studies and The Southern Reformed College & Seminary.

He and his wife Linda have been married for 39 years and are the proud parents of three daughters.

Pastor Smith’s leadership extends well beyond the pulpit. As President of the Houston Northeast Community Development Corporation (CDC), he drives initiatives that promote:

● Homeownership
● Financial literacy
● Computer skills
● Parenting and family enrichment
● Health assessments

His civic involvement includes serving on the boards of:

● Greater Northside Management District
● Aldine Education Foundation
● UT Physicians Multi-Specialty – Jensen Community Advisory Board

Pastor Smith’s unwavering commitment to faith and community development continues to inspire and uplift the Eastex-Jensen area and beyond.
