Our Amazing Kids feature in the September highlighted Cyra and Autumn's summer Spyglass lemonade stand. Instead of raising money for a theme park ticket, etc., the girls donated their proceeds to an animal shelter. Way to go, Autumn and Cyra!

Carol Kalos, President, Wissahickon Valley Historical Society, wrote in our 10th anniversary issue (August 2025) "WVHS hopes that every BBCC resident will be proud of their local hisory and appreciate the lovely old building that give our neighborhood its character." Our local area was first inhabited by the Lenni Lenape. Included with the article was an original watercolor "Original People."

At we are always on the lookout for our Community VIPs, whether within the gates of BBCC or in the broader community. We truly appreciate Dr. Solomon and his gift of revolving art at our homeowners' community center. Dr. Arnold (Arnie) Solomon, Doral, creates a hallway art gallery. Art brings him joy! Dr. Solomon retired from dentistry a few years ago. Read more about him in our August issue.

Our August issue celebrates our 10th anniversary as your neighborhood magazine, and in it, I reminisced about some of the amazing neighbors I've had the privilege of writing about. One of our photographers Alex Lowy captured this terrific cover for our Oct 2024 edition, and as I noted in the feature story, meeting Abby was like meeting a new old friend.

Continuing our walk down memory lane, as celebrated its 10th anniversary in our August issue. I included this cover of Don Bitterlich (Nov 2022) for a couple of reasons. First, I was happy that a neighbor recommended Don for the magazine after seeing him play at a Phillies game. Second, I took this shot myself, catching Don while performing at a festival in North Wales. Lastly, there have been several noteworthy athletes spotlighted in the magazine. Don is now known for his accordion skills, but he was once an NFL kicker. Take a look at the issue for some of the other amazing neighborhood athletes featured over the years.

Our August collage of covers over the past decade included The Utah Family (Nov 2021). I discovered the Utah family while trolling the neighborhood for "Yards of the Month." Their Muirfield home was resplendent with eye-popping color, and the backyard outdid the front. In recounting my experience covering neighborhood stories, I praised the diversity our community offers. The Utah family is of Nigerian heritage, but we've covered families from Korea, India, China, Bolivia, Italy, Iran, Yugoslavia, and others. It's a small world.

Looking back on our decade of covering neighborhood stories, I marveled at all the various and interesting places people come to from BBCC. For example, I never expected to meet someone from Punxsutawney, PA, where each February Punxsutawney Phil lets us know across the country whether or not we'll have six more weeks of winter or spring is on its way, depending on whether or not he sees his shadow. But, alas, I can now say unequivocally I have met original residents of Punxsatawney! Two brothers, both living here in Bay Hill, Jeremy and Bryson Bowers, hail from that town. Who would have thought it? It's a small world.

In our August issue of I reminisced about the last decade capturing your stories. This issue (March 2021) marked the first as editor. Our original editor, the late Jen Foreman, guided me through the publishing software, tracking spreadsheets, and other aspects of the process. This particular story captured our hearts. The Baxters had relented to their boys' pleas for a puppy, and before they could introduce Derby, he managed to escape. Neighbors jumped in to aid in the search, but Derby was fast and gone. Thankfully, he showed up, a few days later, growling at the realtor and prospective buyers looking at a home under construction, where he'd hidden, at the Center Square development going up where the Center Square golf course used to be. Our photographer, John Kellar, did an awesome job with this shot, and the parent company, The N2 Company, designated it as an "Issue of the Month!"
