Stroll Blue Bell is the neighborhood's "Local News." Because the residents are actively involved, it gets read cover-to-cover each month.

Originally known as Blue Bell’s Finest, we serve the 800+ families in Blue Bell Country Club, Blue Bell, PA publishing in print and digitally to homeowners and sponsors. Blue Bell's Finest is the private monthly newsletter-magazine published exclusively for the 849 homes of Blue Bell Country Club. The residents contribute content each month in the form of articles and pictures of their families,

pets, vehicles, travels, achievements, events and neighborhood happenings. The business partners who advertise are vetted for reliability and best-in-class expertise and get to meet the homeowners face-to-face through intermittent social events such as restaurant reviews, wine tastings, Ladies Night Out, etc.

We introduced a new feature section in our December issue of "A Happy Habitat: Living Environmentally Aware," brought to you by our very own BBCCA Environmental Committee. This month's feature article "About Birds" was accompanied by author/artist Bonnie Vandenberg's original artwork "Looking for a Mate." As the article states, "It is said that where birds thrive, people prosper." Read Bonnie's arfticle to discover ways we can attract birds and make our community more bird-friendly. And watch in the upcoming months for more tips and ideas for nurturing our environment.

Our November Celebrity Pet is none other than Rory McIlruff, the new baby girl in the McGowan family. This 7-mo old bulldog puppy is 35 pounds of love. From Rory's name you can probably tell Brian and Megan are avid golfers. They've been members of the BBCC Golf Club for nearly 20 years. See Rory below with her favorite toy, her metal bowl. Gary Rau, Inverrary said of his military service, "We had each other's sixes. I think of it as the best worst year of my life. It all worked out well in the end for the better!" Gary joined the Navy but ended up working with the Marines. "My recruiter failed to tell me the Marines obtain their medical personnel from the Navy. Instead of sailing the seas, I wound up in a sea of green with the Marines. There was the possibility of going to Vietnam, and I wanted to be prepared as best as possible." Happy Veteran's Day! Whether you pause at 11:11 today or some other time, let's do take a moment, a pause, to consider what it means to serve our country. An oath to our Constitution. A risk of life in many cases. Our November issue of saluted our neighborhood veteran's. Below is Jake Salzman, Birkdale, a financial consultant, and avid neighborhood walker who seems to know everyone in our comnmunity! Jake served 30 years of active duty in the Air Force. Thank you for your service.

Over the weekend, I heard someone complain that Veteran’s Day should always fall on a Monday so that we can all have a three-day weekend. They might not have realized that Veteran’s Day is specifically observed on November 11th for a reason. Originally called Armistice Day, it was meant to not only commemorate the end of World War 1, but to memorialize the exact time the great guns all along the Western Front fell forever silent: It was at 11 am on the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918.

In a world that increasingly opts for convenience over meaning, I’m glad we haven’t moved this day for the sake of an extended weekend. Here’s wishing all veterans the honor and respect they are due…tomorrow, today and every day.

The October Neighbor Spotlight is on Willowbend's Strauss family. Dan and Erica moved in just over a decade ago, giving their Wheaten Terrier Tobie a lot more yard to run around in than they had in their Center City home. And since then have added a few additions to the family: Not, 8 years old, and Maya, years old, and most recently an Australian Labradoodle puppy named Bogey.
