✨ October Diaries: Day 1 is live! ✨
Today was one of those homeschool mom days where everything felt a little messy… library runs, a Publix stop for some BOGO finds, and karate with the children.

It’s not perfect, but it’s real life and that’s exactly what I want to share with you this month. 💛

October 1st feels like the perfect day to share a little life update. 🍂

Over the summer, Nick and I made the decision to homeschool the children. We officially started on September 2nd, and now that we’ve had a month to find our rhythm, I can honestly say it feels right for our family. We’ve picked out our curriculum, built a routine that works for us, and even planned regular homeschool days outside of the house. Between local homeschool activities and homeschool extracurriculars, the children are staying busy, and I love that their learning happens everywhere now.

September gave us space to explore unschooling and really figure out what homeschooling in the Dinkins Den looks like. We’ve started doing a word of the month, a word of the week, and a verse of the week, which has been such a sweet way to keep everyone grounded.

Now we’re stepping into October with our fall theme. Our word of the month is Intentional, our word of the week is Focus, and this week’s verse is Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”

Today we kicked off the month with our weekly library trip. It’s simple, but it’s become one of my favorite parts of the week. Watching the children spread out, find their own books, and get excited about reading feels like such a win.

Here’s to October, to living with intention, and to a new season of learning together. 📚✨

19 years ago, I was a high school senior who didn’t graduate with her class.

I was expelled two months before graduation and made the decision to get my GED rather than repeat the semester and graduate with my younger brother—pride got in the way.

I’ve held onto that regret for years. Out of all the Malcolm cousins, I was the only one who didn’t get to walk that stage.

And I’ve parented through that pain—through the quiet disappointment and unspoken shame.

But this year, God gave me something I didn’t even ask for out loud.

My firstborn is graduated.
My baby.
The one who made me a mom.
And I got to watch him walk across that stage.

This moment is bigger than a cap and gown.
It’s a full-circle redemption.
It’s the beginning of a new legacy.
It’s healing.
